General Alexander Robert LAWTON, (born 1818) built a summer residence, The Lawton Place, in Mt. Airy, Habersham County, GA c. 1884-84. This residence has been officially entered in the National Register of Historic Places and plans are underway to celebrate this achievement April 24, 2009. The property is now known as The Seventh Heaven House.
Other owners of the property and residents include: Caroline E. THOMPSON (Mt. Airy Postmistress) from 1898-1911; Mrs. KEEN-KNIGHT from 1911-1925; Ty COBB in the late 1950s; Lona B. PITTMAN from 1970-1983; Winifred D. CAGLE and Jean B. CAGLE from 1983-1995; Jeanne T. CAHILL from 1995-2002; Daniel and Sue LIPPERT from 2002-2006; Tim and Harriett WILLIAMS are present owners.

Direct descendants of General Lawton and other former owners and residents are invited to attend this event.
