I'm looking for information on Oliver Atkinson (b. 1845) and his wife Laura (maiden name unknown)(b. 1847). Both are listed as mulatto, and were married in 1865 in Georgia and lived in Horse Stamp, Camden County, GA in 1870.

More than likely the following people are all related to each other. These people are all next door to each other. Most African American families stayed together after slavery and post Civil War until the beginning on the Industrial revolution/The Great Migration to the North. Location: Horse Stamp, Camden, Georgia. That means you have a lot of cousins.

Most families were large during and after slavery. Normally you do not see a migration pattern until after World War I. After the war you see a migration pattern to the North where the steel, coal, automobible, textile factory's need laborers. "The Industrial Revolution" In the South you had logging camps, carpenters, and stevedore jobs for lumber to build new housing.
