ALBANY — The funeral service of Bobby R. Turner, 66, of Rt. 1 Box 46, Leary, who died Saturday, February 9, 2002 at his residence in Bullneck, will be conducted Tuesday at 3 p.m. at Mathews Funeral Home. The Revs. Hilton Gillespie, Dick Snellgrove and Bruce Vaughn will officiate. Interment will follow in Cordray's Methodist Church Cemetery.

A native of Calhoun County, Mr. Turner had resided in the Albany and Putney area for 30 years before moving back home in 1990. He was a member of Cordray's Methodist Church and retired from Merck and Co. in 1994 after 36 years. He served in the Marine Corps and he was a member of the Flint River Quarter Century Club. Mr. Turner served as the coach for the International Little League Field and was a founding member and coach at the Putney Little League.

Survivors include his wife, Faye Broadway Turner of Leary; a son and daughter-in-law, Ray Turner Sr., and Kelly Turner of Putney; a daughter and son-in-law, Debbie and Bobby Benson of Tifton; four grandchildren, Amanda Turner, Bobby Ray Turner Jr., Sarah Beth Benson and Buck Turner Benson; four brothers, W. D. Turner of Albany, James Turner of Leesburg, John Turner of Leary and Luke Turner of Damascus; and seven sisters, Catherine Whittington and Lucille Bowman, both of Albany, Berthaline Schwartz of Las Vegas, Nev., Betty Sheffield and Louise Roney, both of Fort Gaines, Beatrice Allen of Ashburn and Anna Barbara Moore, both of Fort Gaines.

He was preceded in death by his mother and father, Burlene Turner and William Dewitt Turner; his stepmother, Hazel Doris Hill Turner; five sisters, Nora Lee Paul, Ossie Mae Frazier, Martha Turner, Mary Doris Turner and Julie Turner; and a brother, O.W. Conley.

The family will receive friends from 6 p.m.-9 p.m. today (Monday) at the funeral home.
