I have a good bit of data on the Luke family. Samuel Young, husband of Mary Luke. She was the daughter of Daniel M. Luke and Sarah Horton. Daniel Luke's first wife is listed as Aleif Elizabeth Barrentione in the Huxford book and listed as Betty Hammonds in "History of Irwin County." Daniel Luke and family came from South Carolina according to both above sources and lived on the Little PeeDee River in South Carolina before coming to Georgia and that they settled on the Sam Brown Place which was originally in Irwin County, but became part of Wilcox County in 1857. They are found in Wilcox County, Georgia census 1860. Daniel Luke is 77. I have data on a number of their descendants. Will be glad to share.
