I checked the US Geographic Names Information System. According to their database, there's no Lone Tree or Newbern Cemetery in Baker Co. GA. Using this database, I couldn't find a Lone Tree Cemetery anywhere in GA, but there is a Newbern Church in Ware Co. GA.

For what it's worth, there was a Thomas Newbern in Ware Co. GA in 1830 US census.

Good luck in your search.

I'm looking for information regarding a Sam Nolon aka S.N. Nolan from Early County or Clay County, Georgia that passed away probably in September 1920 or in 1921. He was married to a Cora Thurmon or Thurman. She is buried in Mitchell County Cemetary. This is a caucasion family. Sam and Cora had quite a few children together. One of which was my grandmother Sammie May Nolan whom was adopted in 1924 by Will and Josephine Henderson of Houston County, Alabama. The adoption papers state her name being Sammie May but she always spelled it Sammie Mae (She married Willie Hobbs son of E.D. Hobbs)... Cora tried to raise the children for a couple years after the death of her husband, but after failed attempts and struggles--she placed all the children for adoption (how sad!). Anyone having information on this family --- please contact me! Thanks and God Bless. Leaht95@msn.com
I would say go to your search site and type in google.com, then at that search site type in ga genweb, enter, the first site that comes up hit on cached, when the ga genweb comes up click on counties, just click on the countie you want to search this is the best site I have found. Remember around early 1900 there was Daugherty, Newton, Baker, Early, they were all associated with Baker Co., and you will not find alot of records because the courthouse was swept away in a flood. but this is the best place to start your search , ga genweb includes a unknown county search too... good luck Liz

 In the past I was in contact with Lorraine Hatcher Almstead but now email to her bounce.
Lorraine has told me that James TAYLOR & Sally WOOD(1st wife) were parents of Pinckney and Murphy(Murfrey?) TAYLOR.
My interest is that my GGG Grandfather Hezekiah/Hazzard WOOD was half brother to Sally WOOD daughter of Hopeful and his second wife, Anne MUSE. I'm wondering for the source of the TAYLOR/WOOD info. I do know that "my" Sally did wed a James TAYLOR
Go to: http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~hazzard1774/
for further info on Hopewell/Hopeful WOOD. I have qualified for SAR based on Hopeful's service in the Maryland Guard during the Revolution.
Jim

Bullock, Jeptha & Searcy, Ada kids

Jeptha (Jepna) Bullock married Ada Searcy on February 24, 1841 in Wilkinson County, GA. I know they moved to Alabama then back to Georgia and that Jeptha died in Early Co. GA in June of 1883. I believe Jeptha’s parents were James Bullock and Unknown (this James is the James Bullock who married Elizabeth Searcy, also in Wilkinson Co. GA). I believe Jeptha’s paternal grandparents were John Bullock and Sarah Mayo, and paternal great grandparents were David Bullock & Elizabeth Hood, this last is from other resources.

Jeptha and Ada had at least children 9 children: Three girls & Six Boys

Sarah Bullock b. about 1842 d. February 13, 1927 married George Shelton Pickle on 2-18-1861. Several known children from this marriage. Known Census Locations {1860 Early}
[Note other researchers think that the Sarah Bullock who married G. S. Pickle was from Decatur Co. GA, but I believe that is incorrect because “my Sarah Bullock” and her family was listed as next-door neighbors to the family of George S. Pickle in the only census that I have found her own, 1860 Early Co. GA]

Elizabeth Bullock b. about 1846 d. unknown date and place. Known Census Locations {1860 Early Co. GA}.
[No other concrete information on her.]

Marsha (Martha / Mattie?) Bullock b. about 1862 d. unknown date and place. Known Census Locations: {1870 Early Co. GA, 1880 Early Co. GA}
[No other concrete information on her, but one possible marriage that was in Early Co. GA on July 16, 1885 to a William H. Mimms, that woman’s name was MITTIE BULLOUCH]

Thomas (Thos D) Bullock b. about 1846 in Georgia d. unknown date and place married Rachel Story, b. about 1847 Georgia d. unknown date and place, on 10-30-1869 in Decatur Co. GA. One known child of this marriage John S. Bullock b. about 1868 in Georgia. Known Census Locations {1860 Early Co, GA, 1870 Early Co. GA}
[I think that Rachel might have had a connection to Harriet Hatcher’s, below, third husband J. S. Story (Jessie/ James?)]

John A. Bullock b. about 1848 in Alabama d. before 1877 married Harriet L. Hatcher (Parks / Story), b. about 1850 in Lee Co. GA died August 24, 1924 in Muscogee Co. GA , on December 29, 1869 Decatur Co. GA. One possible child from this marriage James A. Bullock “Jimmy” Known Census Locations {1860 Early Co, GA, 1870 Early Co. GA}
[I found a living granddaughter (as of 11-18-2007) of Harriet Hatcher, by her third husband, she informed me that she remembered her grandmother telling her that her first husband, Parks, worked with lumber he died from an accident. Also, that her second husband, the Bullock, “died in the line of duty,” her granddaughter could not remember specifically if a sheriff or police officer. OUR FAMILY]

Josiah b. about 1850 d. unknown date and place. Known Census Locations {1860 Early Co, GA}
[No other information on him]

Henry Bullock b. about 1852 in Alabama d. unknown date and place married Caroline Houge (House / Hogue) on July 19, 1877 in Decatur Co. GA Two known children of this marriage Bailus b. about 1878 and Bula Bullock b. about 1879. Known Census Locations {1860 Early Co, GA, 1880 Early Co. GA}
[Need 1870 Census, Believe he was still in Early Co. GA]

Benjamin Bullock b. about 1860 GA d. unknown date and place married Mary A. Brady in Early Co. GA on September 25, 1887 Known census locations {1860 Early Co, GA, 1870 Early Co. GA, 1880 Early Co. GA}
I am curious to know if there is anyone who can look for estate records for Bond or Barnes men/women pre-Civil War. I am looking for slave inventories

I have seen from census records that there is a James and Joseph Bond, then there are some Barnes men as well. They disappear from Baker County census records by 1880, therefore, they are either deceased or have moved away.

I realize many of these men, especially the Bond, Barnes, Lamar, etc. are from Chatham County and may have gone back to their home county after the war.

I am only interested in records pre-dating the Civil War that would list slaves. I have tried researching online, but not much is available for Baker County records.

I am not familiar with Baker County, therefore I do not know if these records have survived the years.

Thank you for any help or guidance given.

Amy Hedrick
GlynnGen.com Webmaster

I am a grandaughter of Mary Lou Kelly Jackson Addison who had 12 children and lived in Baker County. At this time my mother, Betty Laura Addison Wilson is 65. I don't know if we are related but if you make a connection I will give you information on all family members. Best of luck!
