Does anyone have information on the Bradenton area before the town was renamed for the Braden family in the 1800's? I remember reading that there was a braiding mill there, and that the town was originally named Braiding Town, then renamed Bradenton. Obviously, there must have been some sort of industry there for the Braden family to have built a mansion and so many people to have lived there before it was renamed. I know there are secessionists buried there, so that would put it as being settled around the time of the Revolution.
