Could someone tell me where I should be looking to find information about land owned in the 1840's.

My ancester, Samuel BARCLAY/BERKELEY/BERKLEY, was said to have worked his father-in-law's land Florida in 1844. The land owner would be Henry HUNTER of Ulster, Ireland; he would have owned this land for several years before and at least a few after Samuel BARCLAY was there. Other names the land could have been titiled under include BAILEY or EDMONDS.

Any idea where I should look?
