I grew up next door to the Pettis clan down below the Wausau fire tower. Spent many a day there. Rainee Miller Barfield was my great aunt; my maternal grandmother was her sister Sally Elizabeth Miller. I know who Rainee's children were but don't know anything else. Can you help?

Thomas Jefferson Barfield was my g grand uncle. He was the twin of James Madison Barfield. They were born abt May 1862 in Florida. They were the sons of Hugh Huston and Ruth Barfield, There were five other siblings: William Jesse, Ehpraim Cornelius, Millie, Mary, and my g grand mother Rachel (Pink) Barfield. I have a good bit on the descendants of Hugh and Ruth but I fear there are more I have missed. The clan has been prolific.

Eunice, my husband's great grandmother was Ella Eugena Barfield who married Frances Masters Russ. Are you from this Barfield line?

My genealogy holds Russ and Barfield. Ella Eugenia was a 2nd cousin twice removed. I have her ancestry but have no decendants for her. Can you help? The Russes in my family are much further back. The lastest one so far was born about 1770 and I have some going back into the 1500s.

Has anyone found out for sure who Ella E. Barfield's Mother was?

Elaine, I have the name, Margaret Allen, in my file as Ella's mother. However, I neglected to site a source, and can't remember when nor where I got the info. Therefore, I can't vouch for its accuracy, but maybe it provides a place to start.

Elaine, I checked the Washington County GenWeb site and found a Jackson County marriage for a John Barfield and Margaret Allen on 7/22/1866. Now that I look at this, however, this is probably NOT Ella's mother since a 19-year-old John Barfield is still living at home in 1870. Sorry for the mix-up.

Sorry that I am just getting back to BARFIELD queries but, no, I don't know who Ella married.
