Hello and thank you for your kind offer on your database.

Can you tell me if you have ANYTHING on William Jasper Martin Sr (born ca 1815-GA) and his wife Elizabeth Rollin?

He moved to Walton County between 1870 and 1880. Believe he died in Walton before the 1885 census. His son Richard (md Caroline Slay) and a daughter Lucinda (md Thomas Carroll) stayed in Walton. His other children lived in Covington Co, AL.

Thank you,
Marj

Thanks

Thank you for checking.

I have checked the Hart family in the area and my Elizabeth does not fit. I think she may have been from Monroe Co, AL. William Jasper and ELizabeth (Hart) Martin were living in Monroe Co, AL in 1870, right after their marriage. Then again, so was his father.

John L. Hart & Mary E. Coker 15 Apr 1851 in Monroe Co, AL. I have been told Mary E. Coker and John L. Hart were listed as heir on George W. Coker's estate in Conecuh County. The name Thompson Coker is found in this area.

I have never found this Hart couple in ANY census. I think they MAY have had Thompson W. (1852) and John L. (1856) Hart who lived and died in Conecuh Co, AL. (The 1900 census gives Florida as birthplace for these two men!) My Elizabeth Hart was born Apr 1855 and there is time for her to fit in this family. I will probably never know.

Thank you again.

Thank you, Wayne. I appreciate your response. Have seen the Sconiers surname throughout the Walton Co census. I have the Cadenheads you reference and am now on to my brick walls, e.g., Pearl Cadenhead Shaw. I hope your research is going well. Judy

Wayne, I am back again, this time looking for different part of the family who lived and died in Walton Co ca 1845 to 1969.

1900 Census, Walton Co. FL Boggy Pct #9: Harbord, L??? (Head) Fe age 52; daughter Polly Ann, Fe age 22 and two grandsons, W. W. (Walker) age 4 and W.E. (William Earnest) age 1. Have first hand knowledge this Head of household is Tish Ann Habbard - as shown on her Death Certificate. bn 1858/48? in FL; died 1937, burial Black Oak Cemetery in unmarked grave; father listed as Henry Brown. Have 1979 interview of Mrs Suggs of Portland, FL. who knew her and attended her funeral. Have searched far and wide to find more on her. In 1910 Walton Co FL she and grandsons are in Sandy Creek Pct. near Holmes Co line. All are listed as MU. Her daughter died in childbirth in 1906; she raised the boys. She also worked at the Florida House in DeFuniak for many years. Have tracked info on the CF Hinesley family (hotel proprietors) trying to find Tish; gave the Hinesley data to the Walton Co FL GENWEB site. Have looked at Havard, Harvard, as well as Harbord. Can you help me find more about Tish??

Wayne, I fear I may be sending this a 2nd time; if so, my apologies.

Would like to get your thoughts on whether Polly Ann bn ca 1877 could have been Henry Brown and Sarah's grandaughter instead of daughter? (in the 1880 census)

I found a Sarah J. Harvard listed in the Clifford Godwin household in 1860 EucheeAnna census; also listed is a one year old female, Tecia Harvard, MU.

Perhaps Henry is away in the war at this time and Sarah took in the MU child to protect her. Could she (Tecia) be the child and heir of Euchee warrior Chittalefee? A land bounty claim was filed for his child Tish-tay. The claim was not acted upon.

. . .your thoughts and/or additional information on this. (I saw a letter Henry's brother, Charles, signed regarding a Creek tribe's concern over land ca 1827.) So it appears the family was intertwined with the welfare of the Creek/Euchee people; espec given Nancy Catharine Hall Brown's ancestry.
