Thank you for your response. I will have to locate the edition of Taylor County's historical publication, "They Were Here" to look up Paul Poppell. I don't know the connection between Paul and Boyd Dias. Was Paul Boyd's son? I'm very interested in the info you have. Would you happen to use FamilyTreeMaker? Elbert Boyd Poppell was my great-great grandfather. I have a copy of a photo of Elbert with his wife, Josephine Sappington, and most of their children with their spouses and children. I never knew their daughter, Mary Rebecca, my great-grandmother, she died in 1944. I was born in 1959. Mary Rebecca was my grandfather's mother. He is still living...Chesley Thomas Simmons. Please let me hear from you soon. Again thank you for responding.

I'm interested in any information on Samuel A. Wilcox, as I am a Great Great Grandaughter. Have just visited with a Grandaughter of Samuel. I have descendants booklet compiled by a Grandchild back in the 1970s. Also just acquired photo of Samuel, and one of his sons, (my Great Grandfather) Will Wilcox. Will's daughter was my Grandmother...

What information do you have on Sappingtons --as I'm also descended from them. One of their daughters married a Peacock.

My husband is also descended from Poppells --on his mother's side.

Hi,
I am a gggrandaughter of Samuel Wilcox. I have just acquired which seems to be a fairly complete line of descendants. The document was prepared in 1976 or so when a grandaughter of Dr. Wilcox dedicated a portrait of him to the local hospital. The document includes a photograph of him as well as a copy of a letter from his brother John N. The letter is dated Feb. 28, 1882. His brother was living in Munnerlyn, GA. The letter was congratulating Dr. Wilcox on his find of a dinosaur skeleton in Perry. I also have a copy of an article from a newspaper about the discovery.

I would like any information that you have. Dr. Wilcox still has a grandchild living in Perry. I believe she is 83. She is my great aunt. She looks a lot like the picture I have of him. She also had a picture of one of his sons (her father.)

I will be happy to share what I have as well.

Thanks,
Alise

Hi, Thanks for posting a reply. I have the documents from the dedication also. Although, I would enjoy a copy of the article and letter from brother. I live in LaBelle FL, where are you from? I would like to get back to Perry and speak with your great aunt. She might know more about Mr. Tucker, that's my grandmothers father. My grandmother (Daisy Tucker) was Samuel's granddaughter. Can you tell me anymore about Samuel or any other kin in Perry? Keep in touch. James Sealey PO Box 1615 LaBelle FL

Wow, I can't believe you responded so quickly....I noticed the date from your first posting was 1999.

After reviewing the document prepared by Mrs. Diamond I see that you were descended from the second wife. My great aunt is a descendant of the 3rd wife. I am listed under Willie Wilcox and Eliza Townsend. My grandmother was Ollie Wilcox. I never knew anything about any of the other family from the previous marriages. I don't know if my Aunt Kate knows anything or not.

I live in Perry about 3 blocks from the Wilcox cemetary. The white house next to it belonged to the family. I just spoke with my Aunt Kate about it this weekend. There are lots of relatives in Perry from the 3rd wife. Some I had forgotten until I looked at the research.

I believe Dr. Wilcox moved to Perry with the 2nd wife from Thomasville, GA. There are still some of those folks around as well.

Does your family have any photographs of Dr. Wilcox besides the one of him in the hat and cane?

I have the history of the Methodist Church in Taylor County with Dr. Wilcox mentioned. I will also copy an excerpt from a book "They Were Here" (a historical society publication) that has a write up about him. I believe he served as Superintendent of Schools as well as other "offices."

I will work toward sending the information. I will keep in touch.

Sincerely,
Alise
