I am researching the Page family that located in the Live Oak,FL area. They came from Quitman,Brooks,GA area about 1870. Part of the family still lives in the Live Oak area today. Another part left about 1900 and moved further south to Desoto and Hardee Counties.
Looking for others that might be researching these folks.

Page family in Suwannee County

I am researching the Page family in Suwannee County. They came from Quitman,Brooks,Ga about 1870. Living in and around Falmouth. Buried in Mt. Gilead Cemetery. Many were railroad people and farmed on the side. There some still living in the area. (around Day,FL)
Looking for others that might be researching the same family. Always looking for more information. As with other families, maybe I am the only one looking.

I hope your information is current. Am I right that you( or your husband) is a descendant of Jonathan Walker, born abt 1793 in SC? We believe that the Jonathan Walker in Suwannee Co FL after 1860 is the same Jonathan Walker who was in Irwin Co GA in 1830-1859.
My ggg-grandfather was Green Walker (abt 1826-1864), appears in 1850 Lowndes Co GA census and 1860 Irwin Co GA census. We have not been able to positively identify his parents. I believe he may be a son of Jonathan Walker. My aunt believes he is a son of James Walker (bn abt 1800).
Her argument against Jonathan being Green's father is that Green did not move to FL with Jonathan. My argument against James being Green's father is that Green had a son named Jonathan but not James, and a daughter named Nancy but not Rebecca.
Do you have any information on other children of Jonathan Walker?

Hello! I am so very interested in the Brinto/ Gornto lineage. On my end, the name morphed one more time into Garton, after the civil war. I have all the way back to 1839 proven, and from then on back written down (but not proven with documents). Is there any information you would be willing to share, or point me in the right direction? She was an Allen, her family was originally from Jasper,
and then ended up in Lulu. She passed away this past May.
Her father was Williamson Allen, his father was a John M.
and John's father was Miles Allen. Williamson's son (my grandfather) Ira lived and died in Starke (Bradford County).
But the Allen's started out in McAlpin and Jasper.

Who knows there might be a connection. Trying to locate
siblings for Williamson, John. I'm at a brick wall!!

I did not find either of them, James and Sarah Gray, at Mount Pleasant Cemetery, Cemetery Book 2, I also checked the other cemetery books for Suwannee County that I have and did not find them listed in any cemetery.
Also checked Find-A-Grave for Suwannee Co., and nothing there either.

My line comes from Lulu, Florida (Columbia County). My GG Grandfather Wyatt Carter Allen migrated to Fl with his brother Andrew Y Allen from VA. Both had a lot of children who could have settle in Bradford area. My suggestion would be to search the Ancestry World Tree with your relatives names. There could be connection. Let me know.

You say your Allen's are from Suwannee County.
Mine also come from Suwannee County.
Miles his son John M, his son Williamson A, his son
my grandfather Ira. All lived between Bradford and Taylor
Counties Florida.

If any of this sound familiar please let me know. I've been looking for
the rest of John's siblings as well as any info on Miles. Miles is from Al.
married to a Lizzie Bishop.

Seeking link between Syke Polite and Hamilton Polite

My Afr-amer gggg-grandfather was Hamilton Polite, born around 1850 in maybe Florida or GA and lived in Suwannee county, FL. His wife was Sylvia Gibb, also Afr-American. I'm trying to find my grandfather's parent(s). According to suggestions, I tried to find any slaveowners surnamed Polite from the 1870 census where he was listed and work backwards. I was unsuccessful.

But I did find a Syke or Sek Polite listed in the same 1880 Suwannee co. FL census as my married grandfather. He was listed as being 60 yrs old, born in GA. One of his sons, George, was close in age to Hamilton and I wonder if they were brothers. But in the 1870 census I found "Seet" as 35 years old, with a son named George, age 12.

Can someone help me with this?

John Jowers father is Allene Jowers and his mother Lucretia Jones Hurst.
Janie Lockey father is William C.(O.) Lockeyand her mother Margaret Savage
Janie (Jeanie) Lockey bd 11/27/1913 married 8/13/1932 to John Macon Jowers bd 8/4/1888 their marriage application in Lafayette Co. Mayo Fl indicated Janie had Cherokee Indian blood line(C). Note: after Janie's death John married Lillie Rosier
John Jowers and his second wife Lillie had the following children Baby boy 8/11/1933 Mamie, Louise, Beulah, Orbie (Orby) Walter M., Rowan John Macon.

I would suspect the grave is no longer found if the burial is not listed in a cemetery book.

John F. McLeod was born March 1840 in Ga and was age 60 on the 1900 census for Middleton, Suwannee, Florida. with a daughter and 2 sons. What was the wife's name? Perhaps they are buried at the same place and she is listed.

By the way, is he a son of Finlay McLeod? There is a photo of him on Ancestry.com

John T Williams is suppose to be the father of John W., W.J., Henry S., Mary Jane, Lizzle, and I was told there was one more but I don't know who??? John W. was born 1846 In Live Oak Florida. He was married to Susie Birch. I'm trying to make sure John T. was John W. father and if the rest of the children may be listed.

I am a grandchild of Bernice Christine Nobles. SHe was the daughter of Flavie Corine Barnes And William Franklin Nobles. The Nobles children were: Bernice Christine (Bunny who married Joseph Terrell Clayton), Mary Evelyn who married Stanley Scott, Clarice Irma who married Louie Everrett Bozeman, Pal Nables, Cuz, Wiiam Franklin Jr. Thats all I can remember. If I'm not mistaken, the Meeks were from Aunt Thelma's side. My father is Dr. Thomas Clayton, the second of Bunnie and Joe's Children.

Thanks, it does help to eliminate choices. Now the question is do you have any siblings for Wyatt? Or do you have Wyatt's parents? He really could be a nephew. My grandmother insisted that JOhn came over from Ireland as a ship's boy--but the census always has him as born in Florida. She also said he had unusually large feet. :)(she wore a 41/2) Someday I'll ask the right question to the right person and will unravel this story. Thanks again.

I see in your post that Wyatt Carter Allen is your gggrandfather. I am trying to find out if he is the father of my John Allen born 1853/6 in Florida. John was married to Mary Adams and they lived near Jacksonville. I know that Wyatt and Amelia had a son named John born about the right time but I would like a more concrete connection. Do you have the names of Wyatt's children and possibly their spouses? John died in Gulf Hammock in Levy County in 1895. He and Mary lived in Nassau County. Could there be a connection? I would appreciate any information that you can share with me that would help me make the connection or prove that this is not the right family.

gggrandfather is John Allen and his fathers name was Miles Allen.
John had a son by the name of Williamson Allen and he married a
Jimmie Gray.

They were from Hamilton and Suwannee Coutny Florida.

I've been told we came from Ireland or Scottland.

The documented info unfortunately stops at Wyatt C. I do know he was born and migrated from Brunswick Co. Va. . Early 1800 Virginia census of that area has a Wyatt Allen as the head of the house hold. Wyatt C was not born or a baby at this time. Brunswick Co. Va. married records has a Wyatt Allen married to Nancy Tarver in 1805. Nancy’s father was Andrew Tarver and her mother’s maiden name was Ann Young. From what I put together they had three children that I know of.
Robert Lunsford, Wyatt Carter and Andrew Young Allen. I need to verify this, but I recall on the same census a William and John Allen. My thought is William may be Wyatt Carters grand father because he named one of his sons William. It’s probably a stretch but some times it’s all you have to go by. He also named a son Robert and a daughter Ann.
I believe Wyatt and Nancy moved the Twiggs Co. Georgia and Wyatt C and Andrew moves to north florida. By 1850 Andrew was living in Lake city and Wyatt C purchased land outside of Lulu, Fl. The same property is still in the family today. I’m related to Wyatt through his son Allison Hamilton Allen. This is all I have but your inquiry has inspired me to continue my research.

Sorry for the time lapse in responding to you. The information that I have does not show a John Allen being born to Wyatt C Allen and Amelia Ann. The source is a information copied from an old family bible, however two census show a John in the family household in the 1860 & 70 fed. census matching the age of your John. I not sure if john was a relative, nephew living with them at the time. I hope this helps.

I am looking for more information on James and Isbeal Branch. While speaking with my mother the other day, she came across some information that her grandmother told her before she was disgnoised with ALtheimers.. I do know for a fact that when Jason became older her killed his Sister's husband over a smart remark he said. He ended up serving 10 years in prison. He killed joshua Mizell. His sister's name was Josephine Byrd Mizell. I also heard her speak of William Ivey, who everyone called Uncle Ivey. I know Josephine had a sister by the name of Amelia. Josephine was my third great grandmother and Amelia was my third great grandmother.. It is hard to explain.. My cousin says we are related to two seminole Indian princesses.. I hope this helps.. Born and bred in Florida (Hardee county)but took a vacation in 1977 and just love it here.It's OK if you don't wish to live here. Id rather not deal with anymore transplants.LOL You can just keep waving those DAMN Yankees down your way. Ocala it very nice. But I found tha Florida is too hot and humid for these old bones anymore.
I do miss the Cuban Sandwiches and Spanish Bean soup. But, That way I can be a tourist in FL's cool month and before spring break.

Could I trouble you a look up in the Pleasant Hill cemetery?
I was wondering if there were any other Harrell's besides Benjamin D Harrell? I believe his 1st wife was an Elizabeth Page. It's a small cemetery as I remember it. I should have taken more time when I was there some time ago. Come to find out, I have many relatives there. Between the Harrell's, there are the Prevatt's and some Crawford's.
