I am desperately seeking info on my great grandfather and his parents. Noone can seem to find any thing on Quinton GORNTO who married Susie Anna Townsend and lived in Suwanee Co. I know that at least 3-4 of their children were born in Live Oak, one being my grandfather in 1917. They then moved to Broward CO. where they are all buried. Quinton was born in 1886 and died in 1966. I want to know where he was born and who his parents were. Any help would be much appreciated!

I don't know if I can help you with Quinton GORNTO, but my Dad, Julian Charles GORNTO, was born in Live Oak, Suwannee County, Florida, on 2/29/12. What were Quinton's siblings' names? My Dad's siblings were: Oswald, born 12/30/04; Howard Beatty, born 11/22/07; Francis Marion, born 8/14/09; and Cecil Lawrence, born 9/28/13. Their parents were William Howard, born 4/26/1874 in Pine Mount section of Suwannee Co., and Mary Emma Fort. My Dad is the only surviving sibling, and he cannot remember Quinton. Can you give me any other names?

Thank you for your response! Quinton was born in Old Town, but lived in Live Oak with his wife. My grandfather was Stafford Mitchell Gornto born in 1917. Quinton's siblings were: Minnie 1888, Ernest C. 1890, Rosa A. 1893, Ethel 1894, Grace 1896, Lillie D. 1899. Quinton was married to Susie Anna Townsend and their children were Stafford Mitchell 1917, Illa 1920, Quinton Mitchell "Mitch"(the tennis player)1921, Mary 1926. The youngest two were born in Ft. Lauderdale where they moved to in 1921. Illa still lives in Suwannee Co I think. Her name is Illa Tomlinson. Any of this sound familiar?

Hi, Sally - What a thrill to hear from you! I'm your Mom's first cousin, and the daughter of Julian. I saw you when you were a small child and we came to Columbia for an overnight visit.

You know more about Mary Emma Fort than I do. I had never heard what her father's name might be. I've gotten a copy of her death certificate, and it indicates that her father's name is unknown.

I'll plan to write you and we can compare our information. I have pulled the stuff from the Gornto Family Page about Edward Brinto. Exciting, isn't it?

Talk to you later -

Joyce

Hello! I am so very interested in the Brinto/ Gornto lineage. On my end, the name morphed one more time into Garton, after the civil war. I have all the way back to 1839 proven, and from then on back written down (but not proven with documents). Is there any information you would be willing to share, or point me in the right direction? I would really appreciate it! Thanks so much!
