I found an Irene Duncan born September 1896 in 1900 us census for New Augustine, St Johns County, Florida. She is the daughter of Robert and Nettie Duncan. Her brothers listed are Robbie, Howard and Jerrold. I found a Robert Duncan that I believe is her brother in 1920 census in Lake County, Indiana. I did not find Irene Dedelow census record. It was probably not spelled correctly in the census records. Her father was born in Scotland and her mother was born in Pennsylvania.

Place another post on Duval County, Florida message board. I know there is someone on that sight that goes to the library in downtown jacksonville all the time, they could do a look up for you. Thomas Boyd Bohan died August 19, 1992 in Duval County, Florida.

Martha, here's roses for you and your spirit of sharing! Since I don't have access to the 1935 St Johns Co census, (and if you do), would you please forward how the household looks including names, ages, places, etc.? That would be great!! I haven't located Abraham & Charity(Lewis) Dixon in the 1880, 1900 nor 1920 census records. It's probably due to spelling by indexers, but I've exhausted my ideas of how to search. Interesting there's a Perry DIXON (b1893) with wife Mattie listed in 1920 Polk Co, Fl cens ... not my Perry!! Thanks again.

Thanks for the Sparkman names! I think I have seen some Geiger names during the 1840-1900 time period.
help with our brick wall, Denalsano Surname

Walto Leon Denalsano was born November 22,1860. The family story heard was that he was born in a ship off the coast of Managua Cuba, no record that we know of to proove this. Now as we have searched census records, one states he was born in St Augustine Florida, having said that, we find no evidences of this either or any evidence that anyone ever by this name was even in Florida, we do not know the names or anyhting at all about his parents. Another record states he was born in Mexico, he had a young child who died at age three and the death certificate of that child stated that the father of said child was born in Monterrey Mexico, no records found, Military records, there are three different ones, one says he was born in MEXICO, ANOTHER SAYS FLORIDA AND ONE SAYS CUBA.......DENALSANO is not a common name, I have seen it spelled Delsano, De Nalsano, he also apparently had an alias of Walter Nelson. He died Dec 4 1951 San Antonio, Bexar County Texas, cert;60322 I found him in 1887-1892 Columbus Ohio directory living at 631 Mc Coy, he states he is a musician, he is married to Ella, b 1866 , who was born in Ky and also living with a step daughter Bertha Miller born in Ohio in 1881, in 1900 he lives in Brackettville, Kinney County Texas with step daughter and wife Ella, in 1920 he is 50 by the census, he states his birthplace is Mexico and both parents were born in Florida! in 1890 he arrives from Mexico to Eagle Pass Texas, in 1901 Eagle Pass Texas he married Mary Gaines and has a son in 1905 , that he names Walto L Denalsano........all our records are conflicting information and we do not know why. We want to figure out who his parnets were, what happened to them and where really that he was indeed born, to put an end to this brick wall. Any help will be so much appreciated, Thanks

RICHARD Family Descendants

I am writing a manuscript of the life of Florida pioneer family of Francis Richard. He married Genevieve “Honorine” Bianne at their plantation in Haiti before immigrating to the US. They landed in Charleston, but later resettled in Spanish East Florida in 1797. He and his sons, Francis II, John Charles, and John B. became prominent land owners in Duval, St. Johns, Alachua, Bradford, and Clay Counties. There must be hundreds, if not more, Richard descendants in Florida.

I am searching for any descendants of this family who have pertinent information that should be included in a book about the family. I am interested in finding any documents that relate to the family prior to 1900 that have not been previously published – personal letters, deeds, wills, photos, etc.

Please contact me if you can help. Thank you!

Mark McDonough
easytoremember(at sign)verizon.net
My Geiger line includes Mary Lucinda SPARKMAN (b. abt. 1847, d. abt. 1882), daughter of William & Mary SPARKMAN (m. abt. 1832) originally from Georgia and later Duval County, who married Henry Alexander GEIGER 6 NOV 1877 in Mandarin. Believe that she had four sisters: Martha (b. abt. 1833), Anne (b. abt. 1839), Jane (b. abt. 1841) & Margaret (b. abt. 1855); and four brothers: James (b. abt. 1834), Stephen (b. abt. 1837), Joel (b. abt. 1850) & Peter (b. abt. 1853).

There's also a Lucas SPARKMAN (b. abt. 1828) of Duval who was first husband of Josephine HAGEN, whose second husband was my 3rd great-grandfather John Robert GEIGER. Lucas and Josephine had two sons: Daniel (b. abt. 1855) and Louis (b. abt. 1867).

I've found lots of info on two apparently unrelated GEIGER lines in Duval, St. John's and Monroe Counties, mostly in Spanish Catholic records, but also from other sources, beginning with the baptism of my 4th great-grandfather Henry HULING GEIGER in 1806 recorded at Cathedral of St. Augustine.
