Our research is stalled:

We're searching for valid, substantiated and/or referenced information on John (Juan) GEIGER (b. 1778, PA) of St. Augustine, St. John's County, FL; his son Henry (Enrique) H. GEIGER (b. 1806, PA or FL), for whom GEIGER Key, Florida is named; younger son Captain John (Juan) H. GEIGER (b. 1807, FL) of Key West, Florida; and John Robert GEIGER (b. 1826, FL) of Mandarin, Duval County, Florida, who is believed to be Henry H. GEIGER's son.

We have exhausted Federal and special census data 1830-1880, and much of the info available on Ancestry.com, and are seeking new external resources and references.

Our research is detailed and well-referenced, and available for review on request.

No ideas from me but I am looking for Sparkman's in that area... maybe I will come across something.

My Geiger line includes Mary Lucinda SPARKMAN (b. abt. 1847, d. abt. 1882), daughter of William & Mary SPARKMAN (m. abt. 1832) originally from Georgia and later Duval County, who married Henry Alexander Geiger 6 NOV 1877 in Mandarin. Believe that she had four sisters: Martha (b. abt. 1833), Anne (b. abt. 1839), Jane (b. abt. 1841) & Margaret (b. abt. 1855); and four brothers: James (b. abt. 1834), Stephen (b. abt. 1837), Joel (b. abt. 1850) & Peter (b. abt. 1853).

There's also a Lucas SPARKMAN (b. abt. 1828) of Duval who was first husband of Josephine HAGEN, whose second husband was my 3rd great-grandfather John Robert Geiger. Lucas and Josephine had two sons: Daniel (b. abt. 1855) and Louis (b. abt. 1867).

I have been looking through a lot of the Catholic records and I do remember some Geigers from both the St Johns and Duval counties, but none from as early as 1800-1840. Thanks for the Sparkman names! I think I have seen some Geiger names during the 1840-1900 time period. If I come across it again- would you like me to give you any of that information?

I've found lots of info on two apparently unrelated GEIGER lines in Duval, St. John's and Monroe Counties, mostly in Spanish Catholic records, but also from other sources, beginning with the baptism of my 4th great-grandfather Henry HULING GEIGER in 1806 recorded at Cathedral of St. Augustine.

I did find a Juan Geiger, but it was in the Cathedral-Basilica of St Augustine's records.

That would be my 5th gr. grandfather, Johann/Juan/John Geiger b. 15 Nov 1778 in Lancaster, PA, son of Heinrich/Enrique/Henry Geiger and Susanna deHuff.
