Looking for descendents of James A., John, Jasper and Francis Marion Hall -- all sons of Rachael Hall. It is my understanding that she died in 1890 and is buried in Etoniah Church (Bardin Road) Cemetery, Putnam Coo. Their sister, Eliza Ann, was my gg-gr-mother -- one of the daughters who stayed behind in Georgia.

Would love to compare notes with the Florida kin.

I am responding to your August 5, 1999 message regarding the Hall family. My wife's maiden name is McCraney and we have been doing research on her family for a long time. Her great grandfather is Francis Marion Hall. Francis and his wife Rebecca had 8 children. Their 7th child, Mary Ellender Hall was my wife's grandmother. Please E-mail me as I have other information and hopefully you can fill in some blanks for us.
Thanks

Ron: on my maternal side I have an *unknown* Ellender who was married to a Sanford GORAM b. abt 1801 in SC. His father was (?) Goram and Ann (?). The children of Sanford & Unk. Ellender were Amanda "Mandy" GORAM b. 15 July 1835 and my ancestress, Ellender L.(called 'Ellen') GORAM b. abt 1840 in AL and d. 21 Mar 1867, also AL, and Horrie Goram/Gorum(*I have found two spellings of Goram/Gorum so far).
I would be very interested in any of your Ellender line, if you don't mind sharing. My Ellen married John Gipson, and died immediately following the birth of her second child, (her first was "John"), her second was Harvey Anderson (called "Jack")Gipson, b. 21 March 1867, in Covington Co., AL, my great grandfather. Her sister, Mandy, tried to care for baby Jack, but his grandmother wound up with him.
Hope to hear from you! Suz

Antoinette: I, also, am searching for HALL's. My ancestor is Calvin Hall, b. 1845 in Butler Co., AL. His parents were Noah Hall and Matilda b. abt 1807 in GA. Their children were Lucinda b. abt. 1833 AL; Giles b. abt 1839 AL: Hiram b. abt 1841 AL: Mary b. abt. 1843 AL: Calvin (my ancestor) b. abt 1845 AL: Allen b. abt 1847 AL: Thomas b. abt 1849 AL. (All in Butler County, AL I understand). I have also been in touch with someone who has ancestors in GA named Joseph Hall b. 1789 m. Winna (?) b. 1789, both in GA. Their children were William, Vashtie, James, Wright, Sanders, Addison, Benton, Penelope, Eliza, Martha (*m. James FIFE), and Sarah. Also, I just learned of a book titled "James Hall, His Descendants, and Other Halls of Alabama written by a Margarette Hall Wood. I understand this is quite a larged book..well over 300 pages, so I know it must encompase much more than Alabama. My information is that it is in many large libraries. Maybe you will find *your* Hall there. Good luck. Suz

Hello Cuzin!

Yes! We are cuzins..or very possibly! You are the first I have met of all my HALL's who I am almost positively related to..if we are not it surely is a strong coincidence!
Here is all I know of my Hall lineage:
Noah Hall was born about 1805 in North Carolina. He married someone named Matilda (surname unknown) who was born about 1807 in Georgia, per census.
Noah Hall obtained two land patients in 1838 in Bullock Co., AL but seems to have disappeared in 1840. (I believe he also had a brother named Daniel D. Hall but do not know what happened to him after 1840 either. In 1837 I believe Daniel obtained two land patents in Butler Co., AL.
Matilda Hall was received in Mariah Baptist Church of Christ on 20 June 1831 and excluded on 18 October 1842. (*She may have missed a few services in a row..)
Children of Noah Hall and Matilda are:
1.) LUCINDA Hall born about 1833 in AL
2.) Giles Hall b. about 1839 in AL
3.) Hiram Hall b. about 1841 in AL
4.) Mary Hall b. about 1843 in AL
5.) Calvin Hall b. about 1845 inAL (*This is my ancestor)
6.) Allen Hall b. about 1847 in AL
7.) Thomas Hall b. about 1849 in AL.
*There may be others*
Does any of this sound familiar to you??
My ancestor, Calvin, disappeared sometime after having three children by his wife, Matilda.. We believe his family had a hauling business, with wagons, and traveled a good deal.
Calvin m. Martha Elizabeth LYNCH who was born 29 June 1843 and died 18 July 1933. (Georgiana, Butler Co., AL). Family story is that she traveled *up* from the Pensacola area of FL where she had come in by ship..from Ireland. Maybe with family, but I do not know as yet. Also do not know if she married Calvin in FL or AL..or where.
We do not know what happened to Calvin or where he died or is buried.
The three children of Calvin and Martha were:
1.) William born about 1860. Family (oral) information is that he died of malnutrition at about 10 years of age. I do not know if this is true, or where he is buried.
2.) Mary M. Hall born 1864 in AL, married L.C. Moseley (I do have contact with one of her descendants). Great Aunt Mary and Uncle L.C. are buried at Union Church Cemetery, near Georgiana, Butler Co., AL. They had a large family of children.
3.) Matilda Hall b. 14 March 1867 (*my ancestress), married Burrell Temple PATRICK on 14 June 1899 in Greenville, Butler Co., AL. Matilda was my maternal great grandmother. Matilda was Burrell Temple Patricks third wife, and mother of two of his (many) children. One was my maternal grandmother, Ada Rebecca PATRICK.
As you can see, Calvin named one of his daughters for his mother, and one for a sister..so names are a link in this lineage it seems, which is a *help*!
Lots more to share if you think this is your line!
You may e-mail me directly as well as posting to this board if you like!

I've hit a brick wall on this line. All I know is her birth date was March 15,1852, she died in Putnam Co. Fla. on Apr. 18, 1916, and is buried there. Her maiden name was Smith, and I've been told her family owned a Funeral Home there for years. I hope to know more next month, as I'm going down there to do some research, and to a Family Reunion. Sorry I couldn't be of any help. Michele

So far as I know my maternal lines are not from Putnam Co., but it could be the oral information about my Martha Elizabeth Lynch arriving in Butler Co., AL from around Pensacola may have been *off*. What drew me was your mention of Ellender. I have an Ellender L. Goram, born about 1840 in AL died 21 march 1867 in AL. Her parents were Sanford Goram/Gorum b. about 1801 in South Carolina (no other inf.) and her mother was an 'Elender' born about 1800 in South Carolina per 1850 Covintgton Co., AL census record. Children were: Martha, Manda, Elender L.(Ellender called "Ellen"). Do you have any Ellender family information?? My HALL line is through Noah HALL b. about 1805 in NC married Matilda (unk. surname). Children were: Lucinda b. about 1833 in AL, Giles b. about 1839 in AL, Hiram b. about 1841 in AL, Mary b. about 1843 in AL, CALVIN (*my ancestor) b. about 1845 in AL, Allen b. about 1847 in AL, and Thomas b. about 1849 also AL. Any of this familiar?
