I show that Magill (Mike/Mitchell) Broersma died in 1939 and his wife Mina (Minnie) de Ridder Broersma died in 1938. Mike is buried in Pine Hill Cemetery, New Port Richey, Pasco Co., FL. I presume Minnie is too, but don't know for sure. If you e-mail me directly, I can supply more info.

Update on Anna M. Standley. She was married to Curtis G. Johnson (when/where???). He died in 1960 as a result of a stabbing in Dade City and is buried in Floral Memory Gardens with Anna in Dade City. She died in 1975 in Hillsborough County.

Before Curtis she apparently married a George Tinkleman born in 1885 in Hernando/Pasco County, San Antonio. Unable to locate any information on him other than a WW2 registration card in New York in 1942. He is apparently ill and unable to work. They had one child named Mary, where/when unknown.

Does anyone have access to the Pasco County marriages between 1900 and 1930. Unless they ran away to another state, or county, I would guess that they married in Pasco County. She would have been 15 in 1915.

Am searching for information concerning lost "cousin", descendant of Joseph Marion SMITH, Sr, and Annie G. FUSE.

At the time of Joseph's sister Helen's death in Dec 1985, he was listed in her obit as living in Port Richey. Since Joseph would be about 93 if still living, we assume he has already passed away.

Is there a FL death index or obituary archives that I could access?

Looking for information on Anna M. Standley (Stanley) daughter of Walter Raleigh Standley and Mary Abby Sellers. She was born April 1900 in Pasco County. I believe she married a Johnson and they lived in the San Antonio/Dade City area. She apparently married before the 1920 census, I have no idea of her husband’s given name. Who she married, date, children anything would be much appreciated.

I am looking for information on James Russell Sumler who died in Pasco County on Jan 3, 1977. DOB Jan 9, 1902. I believe he may be a relation and would like to find out who his parents were or if he has any relations still living. If anyone knows of him or could do an obituary look-up I would be appreciative. He may have been a "Sumner", but he is listed in Social Security Index and death index as "Sumler". I am planning to order his death certificate.

Southern Genealogy – A PCGS Special Interest Group

A group that will meet on a regular schedule to talk about success and problems in doing genealogy research in the southern states. I would hope that the S.I.G. could view the South as starting here in Pasco County, expanding to the Tampa Bay area, Central Florida, all of Florida, the states adjacent to Florida and the rest of the South. In the southern states records are usually centralized in the county courthouse and not so much the town or village, and only certain state records leave the county. The South is a mix of township and range, and means and bounds property records.

If you are interested in participating in the Special Interest Group, please come to the first meeting on October 16th from 2-4 pm at the Family History Center on Fort King road. Do you have any information further back than Peter Edgar Currier? I can't go back further until I know who his parents were. There is another man here locally who has done quite a bit of the family history, but he did not have the parents names either. I have emailed him, but never received a reply.

Do you mind if I ask where you live? Give me a few days to get the scan or copy done. My files are kind of messy right now because I have been spending a lot of my time on my father's side of the family.

Hello again, I have pictures of John Currier and his brothers, mother and father if you would like a copy. As I mentioned there are several people doing research on this family.

I have not been able to go back any farther than Peter Edgar Currier who would be an uncle to my uncle Robert Currier. These Curriers settled in Northern NY around Norfolk, NY not far from Pottsdam and they came from Canada.

Matilda and John Currier were my mother's grandparents and my great grandparents.

I would prefer to correspond thru email and will share that with you because I am not that good at ancestry.

Let me know what you would like to do.

SPRING HILL, FL — Brett Jacob Hawkins, 21, of Spring Hill, Florida, died Tuesday, June 9, 2009, in Tampa, Florida.

A memorial service will be held at 7 p.m. on Thursday, July 2, at First United Methodist Church, 130 Main Street, Draper (in Eden), N.C.

He was born in New Port Richey, Fla., and was a student at Everest University in Tampa.

Brett was a Baptist and attended Grace World Outreach Church in Brooksville, Florida.

He was preceded by his father, Buford Lee Hawkins of Eden.

He is survived by his mother, Babette Hawkins of St. Petersburg; three brothers, Barrett Brown of Spring Hill, Brodie Hawkins of St. Petersburg and Joshua Hawkins of Hendersonville, Tenn.; one sister, Jessica Walker of Roanoke, Va.; grandparents, Jack and Betty Wright of Eden, N.C., Owen and Joann Brown of Eden, Frank and Annette Burroughs of Reidsville, N.C., and Bob and Ann Hawkins of Sunset Beach, N.C., as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

The family will be received after the memorial service at 1057 Virginia Street, Eden.

I am looking for a Nancy S. Kelly that married Wilton Smith Gates.

I have down that she was born abt 1930. Married Wilton Smith Gates Aug 1956, divorced him April 1960.

That is it. I am trying to find out what happened to her and her children after the divorce. Wilton Smith Gates was my grandfather (by another wife). I would appreciate any direction on this. I don't mind doing some leg work, if I know which way to go. Thanks:)

I would start with getting a copy of that divorce record, hopefully it would mention her children. Then I would search for her, through her children. With the divorce being in 1960, she more than likely remarried. In Florida, Miami-Dade County looks like where the divorce was filed. With you having the date of divorce, Florida will search all counties.

You might try Googling" the newspaper if you wish to continue further.
www.intelius.com would list the people at his address.

I live in Denver, Colorado myself. I have a local Denver library card. I access the Denver Library system from home. And thru them I access the online newspapers and archives. I don't see why it should not be available where you live. Just ask the librarians how to make this possible.
