I'm with you! I'm trying to find proof of Joel Turner Fleming's father. Ellen is his wife.
Keep a look out for Harrison Hinson. I have that name for her father.

Ellen Hinson is my gg grandmother and Joel Fleming is my gg grandfather. I don't know if you will ever find documented proof of Joel Fleming's father but his father was most likely Joel F. Fleming. (The F. may stand for Fletcher. Joel Jr. named a son Harrison Fletcher)Joel Sr. married a Mary Ayers (I may have spelled her last name wrong I'm not sure of the spelling.) Joel and Mary married in Lincoln Co. GA on 27 Nov. 1829. Joel Jr. had a sister Mary Agnes and a sister Ann. Joel Sr. was the son of James Fleming and Mary Hassell Fleming, James Fleming came to Savannah with his father Samuel and brothers and sisters from Ulster in Ireland. I can't prove they weren't Irish but I suspect they may have actually been Plantation Scots.
A male cousin of mine whose grandfather was the son of Joel Fleming, Jr. did a DNA test and we were an exact match with the James Fleming line. I believe the DNA is going to be the only proof we will ever get on this line unless someone turns up with paper documentation such as an old bible. So far I haven't seen anything like that.
My e-mail is d.bwright@att.net if you want to contact me.
I would love to find out more about Harrison Hinson but so far I haven't been able to find much on him.

Hi Donna,
I think we have talked together before. I've looked at your charts before in the past about the same matters and they have helped tremendously putting puzzles together.
What you just told me too helps me as well so I thank you.
You may already talk with Debbie Atwell. She has also been very helpful and we have been becoming friends over the past year or so. She is one of our cousins.
It is depressing that documented proof is hard to come by for Joel and his dad. But I think it's awesome your cousin was able to DNA test! Those are expensive.
I have some information for Harrison Fletcher Fleming but nothing yet for Harrison Hinson. A while back I did some research on Victoria Sutton side and found that they were up north for a while. I found a name closely related around the Salem Witch Trials....odd.
But I will continue to look more into Ellen Hinson's past and I will pass on any info I do find to you.

Dewitt Fleming - GF Harrison F. is my GG F which puts Joel T my GGG F

Quick Question:
JT. Fleming is his date of birth ABT. 1837 and Ellen's was
1843?
I do not have exact dates. I have 9 children from them using an 1880 Census and my Uncle Harveys notes.
Good luck to us both!
Hope to hear from you.
