Hello,
My name is Trevor Ansbro, the Thomas you refer to was my great grandfather, his son Martin was my grandfather who had four children Tom (My Father), Maureeen,margaret and Bridie. Martin was referred to as Matt by all who knew him or "the man with the cowboy hat", he died on 23/08/1997.
Tom Ansbro my father known as TP had 3 sons Martin, Myself and Alan, hope this gives you some further info

Joseph C. Fetter's obit also appeared in the Stuart News on 21 Dec 1990 on page A 18. I'll go into the microfilm on either Mon or Tue, Aug 17 or 18 and make a copy for you.

His daughter, whom you mention in your note, Madeleine, was my dear Grandma who lived in Florida where my Mother was born and raised. Hi, I just checked the Martin Co. Gen. Soc. website (google MCGS and genealogy)for Katherine Rand. Her obit was in the Stuart News on 12 March 1975. The cemetery was not listed. I checked the three major cemetery listings on MCGS webpage and could not find Katherine's burial.

I'll check on your 1993 obit and burial tomorrow at the Blake Library.

I checked the Stuart News for an obituary. RootsWeb.com SSDI gave death date as 17 Nov 2000. I checked a week of obits 18 Nov thru 24 Nov, and did not find a Louise Goade listed.
But the phone book gives a website for a likely relative:

So that looks like the best next action for you.

G. Irven Downes

Am looking for an obituary notice for G. Irven or Irven G. Downes.

He was born on February 28, 1908 in Caroline Co., Maryland and died May 14, 1994 in Stuart, Martin Co., Florida. He lived for a while in Pennsylvania and had two children, Richard Lee and Loretta Mae Downes.

His Father, Glanville, was a brother to my paternal Grandmother, Minnie Alberta Downes. He had the following brothers and sisters: Perdita Ann, Glennie, Glanville Jr., Thomas Lee. After his Father's death in 1932, his Mother, Nora Nancy Ritchey, moved to Claymont, Delaware and remarried a Charles Rehberger. She eventually settled in Chester, Pennyslvania and died on January 24, 1974 in Claymont, Delaware.

Any information would be appreciated.

My father was Woodfin Marcellus Sullivan. He died in 1993. I knew little about my grandfathers murder, only that I think my father witnessed this horrible tragedy. I would like to connect with my relatives on my fathers side. Please feel free to contact me.

On the Martin Co. Genealogical Society's (MCGS)website, www.rootsweb.com/~flmcgs/ is a Cemetery webpage. There under Moore's Cemetery is listed Mr. Richard McHardy in 1997 as being the caretaker. In the telephone book, Richard McHardy is at 913 SE Bahama Ave., Stuart, FL 34994, telephone 772-287-0067.

Hi, I found Gladys Van Norman obit in a bound volume of clipped obits located in the Genealogy Room of the Blake Library, Stuart, FL. I'll make a hard copy on Monday or Tuesday and mail it to you. It turns out that this obit is in the Obituary Index on the Martin Co. Genealogical Society's website. www.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~flmcgs/ Scroll down the home page, click on Obituary Project, and you'll see the May, 1996 listing. Click on it and select V for Van Norman.

A very kind fellow genealogist has just sent me the following extremely helpful information:

According to Martin County Florida Public records, a Philip Stewart died in Lyons Township, Cook County, Illinois.

b. June 9 1924 in Spokane, Washington
d. July 24 1995 in Lyons Township, Cook County, Illinois
cremated; Elm Lawn Crematory, Elmhurst, Illinois

father; John Wolcott Stewart
mother; Louise Wakefield
wife; Wilhelmina Hoving

That's exactly the Philip B. Stewart I'm looking for. It turns out that he apparently died in Cook County, Illinois, not in Stuart, Florida.

I have also learned that Philip had a sister Patricia Stewart Phelps, a brother Robert Forsythe Stewart, and another sister Cynthia Stewart Kaiser. His nephews include John Wolcott Stewart and Richard Stewart Phelps. This new information helps me flesh out this part of the Stewart family tree.

I am trying to contact Mr. Mahany, he lived in Jersey City during the 30's & 40's he served in WWII as a pilot in the Army Air Corp. My in-laws knew him, they lived at 283 Fulton Ave. My father-in-law was John Lombardi an attorney for many years in NJ. I also posted a notice on a Hudson County site . I acquired a piece of furniture which contained several personal possessions of Howard's - Snyder HS ring, Army Air Force ring Craig Field, John Marshall college key & an ID bracelet from his military service engraved from "SIS". I feel it is important for him or his family to have these valuable possessions.
