TOWNSENDS IN MADISON COUNTY

Classification: Query
Surnames: TOWNSEND, MCCLAMMA, BREEN
I have searched and re-written my Townsend connection with one Benjamin Franklin Townsend several times, located in Madison County in 1844, i.e the marriage of said Benjamin to Martha Jane McClamma (listing actually states name as Martha M McCanney, but I hope that was changed when I corrected this error to the compilers of the list, Book A 1831-1845 Elmers Gen Lib.)Martha Jane McClamma was the daughter of William and Mary (West) McClamma and married Benjamin (F)ranklin Townsend 4 Sep 1844 Book A Page 121. She had two children Permelia and Charles Irving and then died in 1848. The other two Benjamin's listed on the Marriage list are Benjamin J to Rebecca Overstreet in 1835 and Benjamin J to Jane Suggs in 1841. The parents of Martha Jane McClamma Townsend were both dead by 1847 and because William McClamma earned a land grant in Georgia for his death and service in the Mexican War, his children moved to Thomas County GA. Permelia Townsend moved with them and married a Patrick Breen from Ireland and some of their children ended up in Worth County GA. The son of Martha and Benjamin, namely Charles Irving born 1847, has been a dead end. This information has been documented by the McClamma bible records and affidavits submitted to the courts during the land grant procedures. Now my question, of course, is where is this Benjamin Franklin Townsend and how does he figure in with the tons of information listed on Rootsweb and Ancestry.com. Does anyone have information they can share? Martha Jane McClamma was born 1826, so I have put Benjamins age at the same.
