Lorin or Loren Bliss died in Ft. Meyers, FL, on October 2, 1978.

He was awarded the Silver Star for his WWII military service:

My understanding is that he had difficulties adjusting to civilian life after he returned from the war, as many other authentic American heros, such as Audie Murphy, experienced.
