I am looking for any information on the Crumity family in Jefferson Co. going as far back as 1896. I am looking specifically for information about Calvin Crumity born in Carr, NC in 1889. This family may also have connections to Leon, Madison and Calhoun counties as well as Thomas County, GA.

I am responding to information on Calvin Crumity. I am also searching for information on Robert Crumitie. Somewhere between the two, we are related. My grandfather was a crumitie (Robert) married to Carrie B. I'm looking for information on his father (name unknown).

I will also e-mail you. Our 8th year family reunion is being planned for July 2001 and I am fervently praying to make connections with other family members and relatives to Robert Crumitie. Did you have any information that can be helpful to me?

Have you been able to find any additional information on the Crumity clan? My great great grandfather was Owen Cromartie. He lived in Elizabethtown, Bladen County, NC in the 1880's with his wife and eldest son (that I know of) James Henry. They later had Ward, John, Irrenner (my great grandmother) and Paul. Some of the descendants altered the name to Cromity/Crumity/Crumidy/Cromarty. I would be willing to share information if you wanted. Thanks in advance.

Hi, My name is KaJuan Crumitie. My mothers name is Emma Crumity. My grandmother is Ruby Mae Crumity - her parents are Robert & Carrie Bell (Soon) Crumitie. I have been working with my aunt Charlie trying to track our relatives. I know we are related because of the last name and the spelling. When my aunt pulled up our descendents, it stated their name was spelled Cromartie on their marriage license. Some kind of way, the names got changed down the line. It was told that back in the days, two Crumity brothers got on bad terms and decided to split up, and one changed the spelling of his last name. That information was given by a relative we found in New York. We just recently found out about this side of the family - and This side came from one of the brothers that split up back in the days. This is very confusing, but very interesting too. I am 28 years old, and I'm very exciting to find out where I come from. Per the Census, we are Milotta which indicates we are white & black. So, as for now, this is all I can provide you. Please contact my aunt Charlie at 850-309-0690 which stays in Tallahassee, FL. She has alot more information to provide. And again, I hope this helped you out. Its nice to know, not only our side is trying to locate our relatives. May God bless you and I on our search for descendants.

Happy New Year Kajuan! I am very interested to discuss the family with you both. Where were Robert and Carrie Crumitie from? Do you have the names of the brothers that "split" or a transcript of the interview? What was the name of the person that gave you the info? Please free feel to post here or email me at kmcleod@md.prestige.net.

Thanks for your reply. Robert and Carrie are my great grandparents and they are from Monticello Florida. How we obtained the information about brothers spliting up came from some relatives from New York. I dont have my book with me at work today, but if I can remember, tomorrow, I will get the name of the persons in New York. My aunt Charlie M. Taylor has majority of the information with her, she can be reached at email: throneroom7@aol.com or at her home 850-309-0960. She will be more than happy to assist you further. Looking forward to hearing from you soon.

Ms. Crumitie

Kajuan I sent an email to your aunt at the address you provided about a month ago. The email contained basically everything that I knew about my grandfather, Willis Crumity. However, I never got any indication that the email was received.

All that I know is that my grandfather's family ended up in Thomasville, GA. I am uncertain where he was born but Metcalf, Monticello and a few other places I can't recall have been mentioned. His father was Calvin Crumity and his mother was Cora (Folkston was the maiden name, I'm told).

Please find out if your aunt, infact, got the email I sent. It came from the email address UMBRASAU@aol.com.

Happy New Year and happy hunting.
Dawn

Hello Cousin:

My name is David Harris, Jr., I also live in Tallahassee Florida. I have been researching this family for several years and have collected a lot of history. As a matter of fact, this family is having a family reunion this weekend in Tallahassee at the Staybridge Suites on July 20-21, 2007. Come join us and have a good time and find out more about your family. Yes, you are a decendant of Robert Crumity and Carrie Bell Sooner. Robert's daddy was named John Crumity and his daddy was name Aaron "Berry" Joseph Crumley.

It can get confusing. I am a decendant of Rosa Crumley which is the brother to your great great grand daddy John Crumity. According the deeds on the property and the court records, the orginal spelling of the name is Crumley; however, Aaron "Berry" Joseph Crumley's wife was Edie Cromotie. This just added even more confusion. Edie Cromotie was a full blooded Cherokee Indian. Her father gave her and Berry 200 hundred acres for the wedding gift. Berry was said to be white an Irish.

As far as I can discover, they had 10 children together. As Berry was known to have had 26 children. ????? Go figure.

I hope to talk to you soon.

David.
