I am researching the Page family of Desoto and Hardee County.William Elize Page had family that married into the Robert Browning family. (Lola Page)They had children-Gerald,Robert,jr,Thea(missy) and Bevis.
Also into the Clyde Willis Barringer family. (Edris Inez Page.
Other Page family members were
Dewey Falcon
Emmett
Bart
Basil
Looking for other that are researching and also might have pictures to share.

My name is Larry Preston Roberts. Henry Minor Roberts and Bertie were my grandparents. Are we related? I was born in Wauchula. According to a newspaper clipping found in the family bible, Henry was shot and killed over a property boundary dispute.

I cannot remember now why I was tracking Henry Minor ROBERTS back in 2004...my old computer has all that time period research...

I do volunteer look ups & I might have been looking for someone else...

but - there are ROBERTS from Colleton Co, SC area that are connected to my HARRIS family...

I do mostly research on HARRIS...I will share this with "cousin" that has done extensive research on the ROBERTS family...

I had an infant bother whose death certificate says was born in Wauchula and was buried in this cemeteryi n 1928. Does anyone know about this cemetery? I can't find it listed anywhere.

I am currently working on two projects at one time I am acc for Hardee as well as trying to work on my own lines. I am trying to preserve Hardee's History for other researhers where it will always be kept free and trying to trace a family I know very lil about. I was raised by my mothers side so I am learning about my Fathers side as I go lol it can be hard.
I sent a email to the address you refered me to and will wait to see if i get a responce if not I will let you know I Thank You for trying to help me and for al that you are doing. please visit Hardee's sight on flagen web I think you will enjoy it. Althou it is a work in progress I will add more as I recieve it I am going to begin reading the cemeterys and hopefully taking the photos of the tomb stones hopefully very soon please let me know what you think as a researcher in the area.

My name is Matthew Lindsay. I have lived in Manatee County nearly all my
life.
I used to to go to the Fish Branch Reunion every year until about 7 years
ago. Carl Ford is a regular attendee and also has researched the Ford
family. I used to have an e-mail address for him that was actually his
son's. It was skylerf@gate.net.
I haven't corresponded with Carl in about 5 years. I had bought Carl's
genealogy book that he'd been working on for quite a few years. My
grandmother was born in Wauchula and her family were all Mercer's. Most of
them are buried in Gardner but some are in Oak Grove and in Sweetwater. I'll
make an effort to find Carl's book if you can't contact him. Please let me
know. I moved in 2002 and a lot of my research stuff is still packed away
for safe keeping.

In response to Victoria Smith Crews, I am first cousin to your mother-in-law. I am in the process of updating the Hendry part of the family tree and hope to do so by the end of June 2009.

If you search your mother in law, Mitzi Sue Turner, you should find the family tree branch that fills in many questions. One correction though, Clyde Kenneth's sister is Edith, but his mother was Lillian Madeline Hendry, daughter of James Jackson Hendry and Amelia Caroline (Kate) Williams.

And if you search Loys Hendry, you will also find by the end of June that I have filled in much of that tree.

Sue, the Louis A Ford family is listed on the 1920 Desoto Co, FL federal census in the Sweetwater 27th precinct and the 1930 Hardee Co, FL federal census in Sweetwater election precinct 15. If you have a library card, the Hardee County Public Library website contains a free link to Heritage Quest where you can view images of those census records. Click Online Resources, Genealogy, Heritage Quest, Search Census.

I don't have a lot on these two but I did find in the Florida Divorce Index 1927-2001 that they were divorced in 1954 in Hardee. It looks like Hoyle then married a Sylvia P. and they were divorced in 1960.

Do a Google search on Fish Branch, Florida and you will find a noted author that was born there and has website that you can contact him through. He would probably be glad to tell you where Fish Branch was. My search turned up nothing!

I understand that the City of Wauchula administrates the cemetery. Can anyone give me directions to the Wauchula Cemetery. From the map I found it looks to be located somewhere off South 6th Avenue. Can anyone give me specific details? Though not listed in the index, I am seeking the grave of Leona Danzey who died between 1913-1915. She may be buried near her grandfather Francis Marion Pringle who died July 29, 1918 and has a large marker.

I am looking for him. I do not know if he is dead or alive. I was born at Buchanan, He and brother lived down the road from me. Brother lives in Calif, I visited him November 08. Brother ask me to try to find him. His grandfather my great grandfather.

Hey Norita. Good to hear from you! Yes, Owen, Serrena (spelling) and Owen's first wife are all buried at Joshua Creek Cemetary, been there several times and went to Owens funeral. I can't remember his first wife's name.

Looking at Sherrouse history, didn't think there was any connection associated with American Indian there. I wish I paid more attention back then. I just remember him telling my grandmother she needed to get signed up for ??? and it made her mad. Back then it was like telling her she was from a mixed race and she "did not like it." Was just curious and at least now know it may be from the Watson side, not Sherrouse.

Hey Michelle just getting back on some of my old stuff too. I do not think Owen is buried there on Desoto. His parents are though. His parents were Thomas and Clara Burnsed Sherouse Hos brother Eugene ( Pasquale) and hois other sister are buried ther. In Jousha. His father Thomas was my husband's grandfather's and your great-grandmother Crisom's
brother, Never heard this Blackfoot Indian info befor. Uncless it came from Delia Watson Sherouse's side ( Henry Wesley Sherouse ) family's side?????

I doubt there is a proper name give to that street. Actually it is more of a rough gravel road leading off the main North/South route. The cemetery sits pretty much right on the highway. Wauchula isn't that large. You can hardly miss it.

As you are headed South out off Wauchula, it is on the West side. You cannot miss it.
If you stop by Wauchula city hall, they can have someone meet you at the cemetery. You have a good chance that their maps will show who is buried and where. 1913/1915 is too early to go to the funeral home. They were not in business then.

There are 2 obits in the Tampa paper. Dated 12 Jan and 13 Jan. 1982.

Why not try contacting the Hardee County library directly? They have always been very helpful.
Also, there might have been an obit published in the Tampa papers.
