My grandfather was Daniel Bouy, of Louisiana, his father was Benjamen Bouy- but copies of his birth certificate state that the spelling of his last name was "Bouie" which was changed to Bouy. If you have any information I would greatly appreciate it. The furthest I am able to get back is my g-g-grandfather , Gabriel Bouy ( Bouie) who came from Marsielles, France.

I've seen the "Buie" spelling (and am wondering how that relates to "Bowie".

I don't know if any of these are related or not in reality. However, in dealing with all of my own family lines, I know very well that census takers quite often inserted their own interpretation/spelling experiences. Try all of them. Good luck!!
