Does anyone know where I can get a photo of the 1953 Gadsden County HS graduating class? My sister was a member of that class, even though she didn't graduate with them. She recently expressed interest in getting this photo; I would love to surprise her with it.

Also, if you were in this class, please contact me. I know my sister would love to hear from you.

The Public Library has copies of all the high school albumns. I recently made copies of pictures of the class of 1957 from the 7th up. I even found some elementry school pictures.
Give me her name and I will look for her picture.

I am trying to locate any info on a Virginia Ann Purvis who graduated from Gadsden Co. HS around the early 50's. Don't know her married name. My wife and myself found three of her old jr high and high school scrapbooks and would like to return them to her. A lot of the info and contents are priceless to her. If we can't find her we would like to know who at the Quincy Library would like to get the books. They would be a great addition for past activities.

Surnames: Purvis
I don't know the Purvis family. I graduated in 1957 from Gadsden Co. High School. The public library uses me as a resourse to help others with Gadsden Co. roots to find information. My cousin, Joyce is a librarian there.
The library is closed for a month starting today to move into its new building. The address is: The Bill McGill Public Library, Pat Thomas Parkway, Quincy, Fl. 32351. You are welcome to mail it there. It would be placed in the reference section to look but not check out.

Mary,
You sound as if you are a person I should get to know. I am the County Coordinator of the Gadsden GenWeb page. I have many items of information I need for this web site, and schools is just one of them. Would you contact me at ancestor_lady@yahoo.com and let's talk more?

I have moved to Wakulla Co. but still do a lot of research on Gadsden and the surrounding counties as well. I serve on the Historical Society board and am genealogy chair here. I also am the registrar for Daughters of the American Revolution so I verify and process potential members before sending papers to National.

I live in Wakulla County, too, in Woodville. I moved here to be closer to my grandchildren.

I wanted to know more about the Gadsden County High School. I thought the high schools were named Quincy High School, Havana High School, etc. I didn't think they had any schools for the whole county until just recently. What town was Gadsden County High School in---Quincy? When did it become Quincy High School?

I believe the school became Quincy High around 1960. I graduated in 1957 and it was called Gadsden County High School at that time. All the seats in the auditorium had Gadsden High on them and the 1st building next to the round band room has Gadsden over the main entrance facing King St.
Since you are close by why don't you come by the "new" Wakulla Museum (the old jail behind the new courthouse.) We are open on Thursday from 10 am til 6 pm that day and I am usually there. my number is 926-6516.
