Gus EITZEN came to Pensacola from Tonsberg, Norway at the age of 15. He completed his education in America and became a U. S. citizen. EITZEN was the first cousin of Arctic explorer, Roald Amundsen. He was a member of the Pensacola Yacht Club and an avid sports fan who also took great interest in the business and social scene in Pensacola. EITZEN was a member of the Masonic Lodge, the Scottish Rite, and the Shrine. He was a pioneer lumber and timber dealer. For years he acted as manager of Pensacola Lumber Company and was later a member of Eitzen-Touart Company. He married Miss Lottie PITT, and they had two daughters. EITZEN died September 11, 1926.
