Donna, Have you seen a copy of the publication, "Marengo County, Alabama: Some Early Families," by Mary Tucker Walker? It has quite a bit of information on the Comptons. Interestingly, it doesn't have any info on this Richard James Compton's descendants. It does have quite a bit on his possible ancestors. I am, supposedly, descended from his son, William "Billy" H. Compton and his wife Frances Caroline Middlebrooks. I actually have 2 lines to the Comptons: First cousins married each other. By the way, is your surname any connection to the Savilles? One of the publications identifies a town in FL as still having lots of Savills living there today. Thank you for sharing your information with me! Lisa
