Does anyone have access to local history books that would mention this estate? It was 50-odd avres on the shores of the St. John River and is now operated as a Episcopal high school. It is next to Jacksonville Univesity.
It was either built or bought by Robert A. Packer ca. 1880. He died there in February 1883 at the age of 40. It passed to his brother and sister, but his brother died in February 1884, leaving Mary in sole posession.
A short time later she entered into an arranged marriage with Charles Cummings. They were later divorced and Mary died in 1812, leaving the estate to the Episcopal Diocese of Jacksonville. They operated it first as a boys' home and currently as a high school.
