I am searching for a distant cousin that I was told was last known to live in Immokalee Florida. Her name is Jimmie Lee Beck Thompson and she is the daughter of my GreatGrandfather James Anderson Beck. Jimmie was born in Tuscaloosa Alabama in 1921 and had a step-sister named Annie M Beck. Jimmie may have had a son named B.J. Thompson. I don't know if they still live in the area or if Jimmie Lee is still alive. Daniel Earl Bretz' mother Patricia Helen Compton is the daughter of Helen Millicent White who is the daughter of Everett White who is the son William Marcus White who is the son of Rachel Packwood Milner who is the daughter of Robert Dudley Milner and his father Beverly Milner who married Olive Anna Hendrick is our common connection. Long way to state that I am a Milner descendant as well and try to gather the lineages as far as I can.

Carl Bradley Jr. died in Immokalee on September 22, 1995 according to social security records available online. I worked for him one summer in the mid 60's. He was a beekeeper. He served the farms and groves around Immokalee. He also had some hives he kept in the middle of the state. He had hives as far as Marco Island and east into Hendry county.

I believe he had one daughter, but I don't know her name. He was divorced when I knew him. He lived near us back then.

I am researching my SNIDER descendants from a line in Perry Co, OH, and found one descendant in Naples, FL: Thomas C. LITZINGER, b Aug 31, 1915, d Nov 9, 1992. The SSDI I access from Rootsweb only identified the zip code of last residence, so someone from another FL board (I had guessed on zip code location) redirected me here, but also told me about the Naples library obit lookup resource, which I am using. However, in the meantime, thought I'd post on this county's board, in case anyone else is also looking at this surname. According to the library's index, his obit is published in the Naples Daily News on November 11 and 12, 1992 on page 2B. If the library answers requests from out of state queries and sends me a copy of the obit, I'd be glad to share the data (and other items on this line) w anyone interested.

"Legendary Cale Jones Dies in Sleep"

Cale Howard Jones, Naples First Police Chief,died quietly in his sleep yesterday at his home at 144 10th Ave, South.
Jones was 63 years of age,a native of Jasper,Georgia. He moved to Naples in 1923.In his death, Naples loses one of it's most colorful figures.When Naples was incorporated in 1924, he was appointed it's first City Marshal. The Jail was then in the " PawPaw Patch",located in the area between Crayton Cove and the old Naples Hotel.
A quiet man, Jones kept peace in Naples with only a two man force. When the office of Police Chief was created, he was appointed as it's first Chief and served in that capacity until his retirement in 1958, a period of nearly 31 years.
Besides his wife, Mrs. Alice Jones, he is survived by two sons, Cale Jones of Naples, and Charles Edward Jones, a sergeant on the Naples Police Department.Two brothers, Stephen Allison and Jesse Floyd, both of Naples; one sister, Mrs. Ethel Roland of Grant City, Alabama, and six grandchildren.
He was a member of the First Methodist Church of Naples, The Elks, and the National and International Association of Police Chiefs.
Friends may call at the Richard A.Pittman Funeral Home from 2 to 5 o'clock Thursday and from 7 to 9 Thursday night. Funeral services will be at 2 o'clock Friday afternoon in the chapel of the Pittman Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Naples Memorial Gardens.

Fred Weymouth, Naples, mid 1950's

Looking for info about Fred, who is mentioned in an IN obit in 1950 as the surviving brother of George Weymouth, b. 1865-d. 1950, and living in Naples FL. He would have been quite elderly and I have no idea if he was married or had children or had lived in FL for long--the family was originally from Missouri/Arkansas. Does someone have access to a local newspaper who could check the obituary index for the death of a Fred Weymouth--probably 1950-1960--for me? I don't find him in the 1870 census with George and his widowed mother, nor in the1920 census anywhere in the US, nor in the SSDI--the only mention that there was a brother is in the 1950 obit. Very grateful for any possible info!

Looking for Great Aunt Bertha Kidwell Gray!!!

I know that Florida is a large state, but I'm still searching for my great aunt Bertha Kidwell Gray.

I know that Bertha lives with her daughter and family somewhere in Florida. Bertha's parents were Charles and Nora Belle Pennell who were married in Cumberland Maryland in 1904. Bertha had many brothers and sisters including my grandfather Earl Kidwell Sr. Her only living sibling is Leroy, who resides in Ohio.

Before moving to Florida to live with her daughter, she was from Pennsylvania and still has a son living there. Bertha has also gone blind - which I fear is hereditary though irrelevant. Bertha's late husbands name is James Gray.

This is as much information that I can possibly provide. My Kidwell family claims to not know how to contact her. I'm 29 years old and as my oldest living relative, I would love to get the wonderful chance to get to know her before it's too late.
