Survivors include a son, Kenneth, Newark, Del.; two daughters, Shirley Gear, Sacramento, Calif., and Betty Frable, Ocala; two sisters, Georgianna Saunders, Sunbury, Pa., and Goldie Raker, Chicago; five grandchildren and one great-grandchild. The SSDI has his last "residence" listed as Citrus County. That does not mean he died in Citrus County, that is just the last address SS had for him. Also, he does not show up on the Florida Death Index. I would go with Michigan for a death certificate. Many northerns come to Florida for the winter, this may have been the case with your step-father.

I am quite confused, SS index shows Loren Harvey McEwen died in Homosassa Springs in Citrus county, FL. He is also listed as deceased in Iron Mountian Michigan per Michigan death index. I know this is the same person as he was my step father for many years, born May 21st 1926. I would like to get a coy of the death certificate, but not sure weather to go through FL or MI. SS# was 347-14-8437 he was born in Minot ND, parents were Ida Frank & Harold McEwen DOD was June 4th 1989. Could someone let me know if his actual death took place in FL or MI. Beleive it or not he is buried in WI. If it was a FL death, could an obit be found. I thank you for your time. Maye B-T

Patrick Thomas "Pat" Higgins, 68, Homosassa, died Tuesday, Dec. 23, 2003, at his residence under the care of his family and Hospice.

He was born Dec. 19, 1935, to Eugene Higgins and Laverne Bouvat Wendorf, and moved to Homosassa 25 years ago from Dallas.

He was a retired electronics manager for Wal-Mart of Homosassa.

Mr. Higgins was Catholic.

Survivors include five daughters, Pamela Diaz, Terri Switzer and Toni Higgins, all of Milwaukee, Wis., Debra Anderson of Dallas, Texas, and Michelle Andrews of St. Cloud; one brother, Michelle Wendorf of Oshkosh, Wis.; one sister, Kathleen Bourbon of Homosassa; and eight grandchildren.

Lucy Yoder married Joseph R. Snowden. In 1900 and 1910 they were residing in Inverness. Lucy's parents were Knox & Clara - Christian? (not sure on spelling). They were in Inverness in 1900 and 1910 also. Looking for information on Yoder's of Inverness and where they might be buried. Knox died 1923 Inverness.

Was Dorinda black? This was the only Dorinda I could find for 1880 census born about 1875 which would fit. Shows them living in Levy County, in and around Bronson and Levyville. Surname was Simmons. I used Dor* for first name and no last name for search and just put in the state of Florida.

Wish I could help. The fact that she was listed as Black could mean just mixed, such as Seminole. Census takers were not always up on what we consider proper ethnic backgroungs, as we are today. My grandmother was listed as Mulatto on one census, though her lineage, from Ontario, Canada, was English, Scottish and German. Now, for surname, I don't know how Simmons got in there or if this is even the right lady for you but everything else fits. Wish I knew the names of her parents. That would really narrow things down for me, even if just given names and no surnames.

I am from Early Allen. I am stuck on John Earl Allen's family back past him. My great-grandma was an Allen. The family is from Citrus County, FL. They lived in Lecanto. The family farm is in Lecanto and they have family reunions there.

You can also go the the Clerk's page to see if there are any legal documents. Go to:

and choose Official Records on the right side of the page. Log in at the bottom and then type in the last name. There are a few records there with Laverne and Michaels name on them.

Byron B. Taylor, Jr. was born on 17 Sep. 1926, in Hosford, Liberty Co. FL. He died on 25 Apr. 2002, in Floral City. Citrus Co. FL.

I need his parents name to see if he is my Uncle that we have been searching for and to get the genealogy of the family if possible. Have been looking forever it seems. Thanks for the reply and the information. I will definitely check the 1880 Census. We were always told that she was part Seminole and Irish. She never talked about her background and her children have all passed away taking with them whatever information she was keeping secret so we really don't know a lot about her.

Thanks for your help and encouragement. As far as parent’s name, she told us her surname was Coleman but I found Westberry on her marriage license and burial information. On the burial information, the only parent name that was listed was Mary Ann mother of Dorinda Georgiana Westberry Levins. That's why it's been so hard to find anything because I never know if I have the right person. There have been too many different names floating around.

My grandmother was Dorinda Georgiana Levins, born July 10, 1874 & married to William Richard Levins in Levy County Florida on April 8, 1896. They lived in Citrus County, Florida. My grandmother was very secretive about her past, some big secret she was ashamed of. We were always told that her maiden name was Coleman but I discovered on her marriage license she was listed as Miss Dorinda Georgiana Westberry. I can't find any connections for her with either name. Does anyone have any information or clues that might help unravel this family mystery?

Richard H. Levins & Mary Johnson Levins

My grandfather was William Richard Levins born Nov. 17, 1868 in Levy County, Florida. His father's name was Richard Hamilton Levins and his mother was Mary Johnson (we think the last name was Johnson) Levins. We think they lived around Levy, Citrus & Marion counties. That's all we know of them & I'm searching for any information I can find on ggrandfather Richard Hamilton Levins and ggrandmother Mary Johnson(?). We have heard that Richard & Mary were divorced and she later married a Pendarvis then a Dyess/Dice. I have hit a dead end and any clues or information would be greatly appreciated.

Looking for Great Aunt Bertha Kidwell Gray!!!!!!!

I know that Florida is a large state, but I'm still searching for my great aunt Bertha Kidwell Gray.

I know that Bertha lives with her daughter and family somewhere in Florida. Bertha's parents were Charles and Nora Belle Pennell who were married in Cumberland Maryland in 1904. Bertha had many brothers and sisters including my grandfather Earl Kidwell Sr. Her only living sibling is Leroy, who resides in Ohio.

Before moving to Florida to live with her daughter, she was from Pennsylvania and still has a son living there. Bertha has also gone blind - which I fear is hereditary though irrelevant. Bertha's late husbands name is James Gray.

This is as much information that I can possibly provide. My Kidwell family claims to not know how to contact her. I'm 29 years old and as my oldest living relative, I would love to get the wonderful chance to get to know her before it's too late.
