Thomas Harvey Rogers, 71, Arcadia, died Dec. 1, 2003.

He was born Nov. 21, 1932, in Arcadia and was a lifelong resident of DeSoto County. He was a Navy veteran and was a life insurance and investment broker, a cattle rancher, and a citrus grower, as well as a fisherman. He was a member of Arcadia Elks Lodge 1524. He was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Arcadia.

Survivors include his wife of 49 years, Joy I.; daughters Dianne Carlton and Catherine Furr, both of Arcadia, and Gail Harrison of Lakeland; sons Chris of Arcadia and Jeff of Mooresville, N.C.; brothers Clarence P. of Fort Myers; and 12 grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Ponger-Kays-Grady Funeral Home in Arcadia. Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home, with burial in Oak Ridge Cemetery in Arcadia.

Memorial donations may be made to the American Diabetes Association, Memorial Program/Call Center, P.O. Box 2680, North Canton, Ohio 44720.

This might sound crazy, but I am looking for information on the area and the land as early back as possible until now. I am trying to find out the origanal history of the land our home was built on, but I am not getting much information on any souces I have tried thus far. Emily STEMPLE death 2003

Hello!

I have been told that Emily STEMPLE, possibly SEMPLE died in Punta Gorda October 7, 2003. She was 93, widow of Charles Stemple.

Has anyone any information on this lady? I know that she was the daughter of Charles James Allen and Winifred Casey and have earlier census info, but have not been able to find her or her husband in 1930. I do not have their marriage or any children.

Charles James Allen was my greatgrandfather, Emily was a halfsister to my grandfather.

Any information will be of interest, I have only known Emily's married name since yesterday!

Thanks again, Susan. I'm having a lot of trouble accessing RootsWeb from my email. The messages come in alright, but the links out don't work. I have to go to the Rootsweb site from the internet and work my way through to the message boards in order to read anything. Sometimes I can't access Surnames from the home page at all and have to go via a State. Very strange. Anyway, I'm happy to have this info and will see where it leads me. I much appreciate your help.

You can probably get most info on my father from his US Navy record. He was a Navy chief; machinist's mate (engine room). He was at Pearl Harbor on Dec. 7, 1941 on destroyer USS Bagley. He was in every major battle in south Pacific; after the war he was on gunboats in China. He retired the first time late 50's, then re-enlisted after having three kids. Retired some time later in the 60's and went into the Merchant Marines and sailed until he retired in 1983. He was killed in an auto accident in 1984.

Dropping Neundorfer is a long story. Would rather not write it out. Suffice to say, I would not have done it had I had a decent German sounding first name or one that would have gone with Neundorfer better....but Malcolm? it was always difficult.

What is your relationship to "Smokey"? (his nickname)

Harry Malcolm Neundorfer was my father. I am Malcolm Anthony Neundorfer. I just happened to be curiously searching Neundorfer on Google and ran across your inquiry. He had three descendants. A daughter, Donna Darlene Neundorfer (June 14, 1957-September 16, 2006)and two sons, myself (September 15, 1958-) and my brother Robin Keith Neundorfer (Nov. 14, 1959-). I am not sure if I have the information you are looking for. Do you know the time frame James De Back may have lived? My great grandfathers name was James De Back. Everything found with his name had either deback or debeck as the surname. We go by De Back today.

Looking for Great Aunt Bertha Kidwell Gray!!!!!!!

I know that Florida is a large state, but I'm still searching for my great aunt Bertha Kidwell Gray.

I know that Bertha lives with her daughter and family somewhere in Florida. Bertha's parents were Charles and Nora Belle Pennell who were married in Cumberland Maryland in 1904. Bertha had many brothers and sisters including my grandfather Earl Kidwell Sr. Her only living sibling is Leroy, who resides in Ohio.

Before moving to Florida to live with her daughter, she was from Pennsylvania and still has a son living there. Bertha has also gone blind - which I fear is hereditary though irrelevant. Bertha's late husbands name is James Gray.

This is as much information that I can possibly provide. My Kidwell family claims to not know how to contact her. I'm 29 years old and as my oldest living relative, I would love to get the wonderful chance to get to know her before it's too late.
