I was born on 1/12/1952 in Opa-Locka; and my younger ( full-blooded) sister, ( Adrienne Annella ) was born at Hialeah Hospital on 10/2/1953; we have an older ( full-blooded ) sister named Annette A.; ( our surname was "Colby") who was born in January of 1950, ( I do not know the day of birth ) I beleive in Opa-Locka, too. Our parents, Harold Colby and Lillian ( Hightower ) Colby separated or divorced and all three of us girls were put up for adoption with the stipulation that we were NOT to be separated. Carl Franklin and Helen Potter were to adopt us girls; but, Mom and Dad got back together and wanted ALL THREE of us girls back!! But Helen would only give Annette back, ( I've since learned that Annette use to call Helen "The MEAN Mom"; she was right!) Helen was having trouble "getting Annette to conform". Adrienne and I have also learned from our adopted Maternal Grandmother, Lila Jackson, (95 years old and still in her right mind, and still taking care of herself at home! What a Doll she is) that we have a "full-blooded" younger brother now that we have never seen. Grandma Jackson went to church with and knew my real family. My real Maternal Grandmother married a Mr. H. H. Sharpe and they had three girls and one boy; 1. Bennett (or Bennette) born on 10/3/1939 in Dade County, 2. Ellen Ann Sharpe, birth-date unknown, 3. Georgia Lee Sharpe, born 2/22/1944, 4. Lorraine Sharpe, birth-date unknown. Our real Mom had been born with "Hightower" as her maiden name. We were adopted ( I think) sometime in 1954 or 1955. Helen had a "new" birth certificate made out with "her" name down as the "birth mother" and Carl down as the "birth father". Office of Vital Statistics said that they could not send me my "original" as Helen had it "sealed". She insisted that "no-one" know that we were adopted. Now that Carl and Helen are deceased and we have kept our promise to Helen that we would not "again" try to find our family until she had passed away,( we had been caught, by her, back in 1990 trying to obtain info then) Adrienne and I would like to find Mom and Dad, our siblings, and our aunts and uncle Bennett! Can you help us We have found out that Mom (Lillian Hightower Colby) was born on 1/22/1929. Grandma and Grandpa Sharpe lived at 505 East 16th Street in Hialeah. Mom and Dad had also been trailing the Potters "after" we were adopted too. I believe that is the reason we moved to 210 E. 52nd Street in Hialeah. We have reason to believe that Mom and her family moved ( and maybe bought property in) Broward County. It is impossible for me to travel to Broward County, so I am Praying you can assist us. I have given you all the info we have found, ( exxept that Grandma Jackson says that our real father, Harold Colby was from Maine).
