I'm the daughter of Wayne Teston and the niece to Jerry Teston of Lawtey. My Dad lives in starke with his 2nd wife Kim. There is Jonathan & me his only kids. He has 5 Grandchildren. My Uncle Jerry ever had any kids just a dog he took everywhere. He didn't die of cancer. He was in the VA hospital to remove a blockage in his intestines. After his surgery he develop an infection in his lungs and antibiotic didn't work. He was on life support for a couple of days and known what was going on. Doctors told us we wasn't getting better and the damage was done. They gave his wife Salvia the choice to pull the plug. She did on July 3, 2003.

My Roberts line is through John J. Roberts; his son, Henry John, b. 8-14-1819 SC; d. 1-21-1874 FL; m. 7-18-1839 Madison Co., FL to Dorcus (Doria; Doria J.; Dorea S. ) Polk b. 1823. Didn't find him in any census, but she is listed as ROBERTS, in Census: 1860 Suwannee co., Fl; 1880, 1885 Prec. 2, Lk. Butler, Bradford Co., FL and 1910 Suwannee Co., FL HH of grandson, Thomas Platt. She was in the HH of granddaughter, Lydia Ann Platt Ellison (mother was Susan Elizabeth Roberts) at time of death. My mother (Eva I. Ellison Cumbie)was b. 1911 and she remembered caring for Dorcus when mother was a child. She isn't in 1920 Census so figured she died 1915-1920. Have no more info on POLK except her father was b. England and mother, SC.

hi barbara,

i am descended through arthur morgan cadle, who i believe to be your luther's brother. we think his parents are robb and julian as well, but we can't find anything to prove it. i know there's a census with robb and julian that has luther on it, and a different one with arthur and julian living with a different family.

can you give me any further information on this family? do you know anything about arthur? have you since found anything farther back than robb and julian? i am diligently searching and will gladly trade info with you if i find anything.

thanks.
julie black

The Speedville I know of is in the southeast corner of Bradford County, just west of Keystone Heights. I do not know of a town of this name in Putnam County. Speedville used to be called Brooklyn; the name changed in the 1940s, so you won't see Speedville on old maps.

William R Glisson who married Ann Margaret Victoria Graham was married earlier to Rachel L Driggers and I have no info on their children. William and Ann Margaret probably had no children.

I have updated info....

There is a possibility that my Grandmother Mattie Martha Jackson was connected to the Battens.

There is a marriage between Mattie Batten & Wm A. Bass in Jan 1901 Clay Co., FL. Then another one between Mattie Jackson & Wm A. Bass in Dec 1901 in Bradford Co., FL. I have no information on this Mattie Batten.

Also, my Jackson line is Joseph & Rachel Jackson, their son Rufus F. & his wife Mariah Jackson who were the parents of my grandmother Mattie Jackson Bass. Their children were, Joe C., W. Wesley, Lois, half siblings by Wm. A. Bass & Mittie Tribbles Bass, Bira, Pearl, & Minnie. I am still trying to find the maiden name of Mariah. Mariah was born in GA according to the census. According to family legend, she was full blood Cherokee.

.

Hi, Mr McNeal. I am a historian and have done a lot of research on Speedville. I have met with members of several of the churches and members of the Donley family, who have lived there since the 1860s. I have collected photos and oral histories and written a short history of Speedville. I'll be glad to send it to you. And I would like to know more about your family too. Apparently the name was changed in the early 1940s, but Brooklyn still shows up on some maps.

I am looking for any information on the family of John W Powell and Annie E Wilson Powell. Both were orginally from North Carolina. Family lived in Bradford Co. area from 1870 to 1930. Children I have listed are Mary Elizabeth, Ella, Henry, Maggie, William (Luther or Louis), and Fred Baskey (or Boskey). I was told that one of the sons owned a funeral home in Tampa for many years. If anyone has any information on this family it would be extremely helpful. Thanks!

Hay Betty. I am Linda J Griffis and I was just wondering if you have any info on Easter, 1887 - before 1935; Louise, 1890 - UNK; they were in the household of James and Melinda Norman/Starling Griffis I cannot find them on any census records either. But then I never found my Aunt Selma who actually is my cousin but she told me she wasn't my aunt, but Grandpa James and Grandpa Melinda did raise her. I do not know who Easter married. Louise married FNU Johns.

Also, do you happen to have any info on Miriam Griffis, Dec 19 1911 -1990? She is the daughter of Mack and Ollie Sapp
Griffis. She married Clyde L Clark, no dates for him. And lastly, who does Toby or Tobie Griffis belong to? Uncle Mack and Aunt Ollie or Miriam?

Thanks for any help you can give me.
Linda

Also, there is a Nancy Hall born 1769 in Maryland living with her daughter Rebecca Hall Fleming and Rebecca's son Hugh A. Hall born abt 1835 in Perry, Licking, Ohio in 1850. Could this be Rueben Hall's wife Nancy? There are Hugh Hall's in the Bolling Hall line. I believe these to all be interelated. There is also a Nathan Hall born 1771 in Maryland living in the same community as Nancy in 1850. This could be another Hall brother in the Geneper, Henry, Rueben generation. Oh the possiblities.

There are several generations of Geneper/Juniper Halls. John Choice Hall 1819-1882 had a brother by that name AND his father had the same name. The John Choice Hall generation also had children by that name.

Has noone looked into the Bolling Hall connections? Geneper Hall 1769-1828 had a son named Bolling (Bollen)1818-1903. I found Bolling Hall Sr. 10/25/1767 - 2/25/1836 in Dinwiddle County Va. son Bolling Jr. 18740 born in Ga. His son Bolling Hall III born 1813 living in Al. in 1850. These Bolling Hall descended are from Ann Bolling 1713-1769 and John Hall 1710-1783 in Virginia. This would correspond to the Henry, Rueben, Geneper stories coming from Va. I have not been able to locate documentation, but am eager to pursue this avenue.

Annie, I really do question this James Hall as Juniper's father. What proof do you have? All of us who are Juniper''s descendants want to solve this puzzle, it has proven to be quite a challenge. It does appear that your Robert may be Juniper's son. To Wes Wilson, if you see this, her information fits the information you gave me for the Robert Hall who was in Laurens Co in 1840 and 1850.
Lillian, I do still think there is a tie to the Choice family. I definitely think there is some kind of link to the family of Col. Patrick McGriff. I think that Juniper's son Patrick was probably named after Patrick McGriff. I haven't seen anything to disprove the idea that Juniper might be a son of William Hall and Elizabeth Choice, daughter of Tully Choice. However, right now there is nothing to prove that they were his parents. The two DNA matches for Juniper that are of his generation, Henry and Reuben Hall, both lived in Pittsylvania Va as young adults, and in fact, lived adjacent to each other. The McGriff and Choice families both had some land in Pittsylvania VA, in the Snow Creek area. That wasn't real near the Choice and McGriff properties, apparently, but the fact that they were in this same county must mean something. There also must be a tie to Maryland somewhere along the way, because Henry and Reuben Hall were both born there. John McGriff, Patrick McGriff's father, did apparently live in Pennsylvania for a while, and maybe in Maryland as well. Tully Choice may not have been born in Virginia, he first showed up there about 1740. Just how these two families connect to these Halls is yet undetermined. There is also a North Carolina connection for some of the families connected to Juniper, particularly to the Edgecombe/Pitt/Duplin area.

Hi Cindy,
Here is the url for a website about our Hall family: www.hallgenealogy.com. You will find that Reuben Hall married Nancy Bradley, and Henry Hall married Sarah Harper, both in Va.
As far as I know now, it is possible that our Halls might be related to the Hugh Hall line. That family was in Dinwiddie Co Va, where most records were burned in a fire. So far, I haven't found any proof one way or another that would link Juniper with that family. DNA testing of someone from that line would help, and if it has been done, I am not aware of it. Of course there was a Bolling Hall in that family. Also, however, a daughter of Tully Choice, Abigail, married Samuel Bolling. We are fairly certain, due to DNA testing, that there is no link to Isaac Hall/Judith Green and the Lewis Hall family of early Montgomery Co Ga. When I first started researching, I thought it highly likely that Juniper was from that family.

I do think that he was related to the William Hall/Jane Adams family of Leon Co Fl. William was born sometime in the 1870/1881 time period, possibly in Maryland. He married Jane Adams in 1805 in Tattnall Co Ga.

Others that I think might be related are Isaac Hall/Polly Melson family of Wilkinson/Hancock County Ga, and the Ignatius Hall family of Md, NC, Montgomery and Thomas County, Ga.

Email me at cmiller20@comcast.net if you would like to correspond further.

My Mother is Alma B. Towne (Batten) her father was Leamon F. Batten and his sisters were Josie and Missouri Batten -from St. George, GA. Charlton County. Jossie married James (Jim) M. Crawford of St. George, GA. their Mother and Father were Joseph & Victoria Batten. I am presently trying to gather information on the Batten family. I was in St. George, GA. this past Saturday at a Cherokee Pow-Wow. Perhaps we a related in some way. I live outside St. Augustine, FL. on the St. Johns River. My name is Curtis Towne. ---- Don't know if this helps , but certainly hope so. Best Regards
