I would like to discuss this too! Aboard the ship Diligence of Glasgow arriving in 1729 were Sea Capt Hance Hamilton born 1704, his son Hance Hamilton jr born 1721, John Hamilton born 1713 (a brother to the sea capt ?) and a William Hamilton, James Hamilton and an older John Hamilton who died soon upon arrival in 1729.
Col Hance Hamilton (1721-1772) is the one known as the first sheriff of York Co, and the heroic Indian fighter. His headstone can be found on "Find a Grave"

I am trying to settle who were the parents of Sea Capt Hance Hamilton and if John Hamilton (b. 1713) who arrived with him was his brother. John Hamilton (b.1713) was married to Florence Morrow and I have their descendants traced. Many trees state that their parents were John Hamilton (b. 1680 Scotland - d. 1721 in West Nantmeal Twp, Chester, PA) and a Janet. However, I have never found anyone to back that up with proof of where that idea came from. Everyone just says they copied that and they don't know where it orginated. Why would their parents have immigrated so much earlier and left a son as young as John born 1713 behind?
I've seen a will of a John Hamilton who died 1758 in West Nantmeal, Chester Co, who was married to Janet however, there's nothing to indicate he was related at all to Sea Capt Hance Hamilton. Where is the will from a John Hamilton who died in 1721 ?
Please clarify if anyone can.
