Hi,
I am very glad to hear from you. I think you are correct with the information you sent. George Soward/Seward and Eleanor Vanderford did have a son named Thomas. I have a copy of George's will which was probated in Kent County, Delaware. This George was a son of Thomas Seward as you indicated. This Thomas was married twice. His first wife was Susanna and his second wife was Rebecca. I note that you state that Susanna's maiden name was Tipford and I am very interested in learning the source of that information. It does appear that George was one of the older children of Thomas and was probably his son by Susanna. This Thomas was born 30 November 1684 in Kent County, Maryland, the son of Thomas Seward/Seaward and Lucretia (Lucy) Griffin. This latter Thomas was the immigrant ancestor arriving in Maryland in 1667. He lived in Kent and Talbot counties in Maryland and most of his property fell into Queen Anne's County when it was established in 1707. I am going to look through my files later today and see if I have something on the Thomas who you believe was the grandfather of James Powell Seward. I'll let you know what I find. I've been working on these families for over thirty years. If you would like copies of any of my records, I will be happy to share with you. Right now I am most interested in finding out the source on Susanna's maiden name. That's a great find.
