Wondering why my gg-grandmother is doing all the property transactions (and there were a lot) when her husband was still alive. I suspect she inherited a lot from her father (in Quebec) and was there a way for her to keep her money/property from her husband? I thought women didn't have property rights if they were married. I suspect he may have been found "insolvent" or bankrupt but have not verified this. Would she have been able to hold the money if he was insolvent? I don't live in CT so I don't know history of women and property. Any info appreciated.
