Chapmans

I have been trying to find the parents of GEORGE C. CHAPMAN b. 1831 in Conn. In 1850 he was living with Henry J. Chapman in Stonington. Henry was 74 and George C. was 19. That to me seems more like Henry would be George's grandfather. There is a Lydia Chapman 17, Poss. sister to George C. George's to be 1st wife CELIA WHEELER was living in that household with her widowed mother Nancy Wheeler and sibs. John and Louisa.

George C. married 2nd ANNIE ELIZABETH CRANDALL

George C. died 1891 and is buried in Windham, Conn.

Beckwith's

My fathers parents, and their parents, appear to have come from Conn. Oldest one I can trace is Daniel Beckwith born 1849, his dad was Allen Beckwith.

I had an aunt Harriet who lived or does live in the Stonington area but has lived in Groton and Mystic. Both her and her husband, last name is Buchamp if I've spelled it right, worked for the General Electric Boat Company. Aunts name was Ethel.

Would like any info if some one knew them. Thanks.

Book- History of Stonington by RA Wheeler

Regarding: Book History of the town of Stonington by R.A. Wheeler
I found this book on Google Books and it is a tremendous source for marriages, births and deaths. I have one question for those that know about this book. It does not show locations for births, marriages & deaths unless the event occurred elsewhere. Do you know if the lack of place name for the event means that the event occurred in Stonington? I don't want to assume so, but it makes sense.
Does anyone know for sure?
Thanks,
Michigander
