Middletown Conn. Genealogy Researchers:
I'm glad to report that the Society of Middletown (Conn.) First Settlers new content-rich web site has been online in its entirety for one month now. For an introductory period the entire site will be accessible to all. Eventually access to the Member Area will be restricted by password, as our board felt that the member area content would provide incentive for membership, along with our newsletter, The Middler. But in any case, even in the public area there will always be plenty of useful information for Middletown genealogy and local history enthusiasts.
The site features biographical sketches of the first settlers, local history essays, a directory of research destinations, a comprehensive bibliography, an archive of past newsletters, links to relevant books online, membership information, and much more.
You can find the site via Google: "Middletown First Settlers". (Some old dead links from our old web site may show up, but they will fade away in the near future.) Or you can bookmark this link: http://www.rootsweb.com/~ctsmfsd/Index.html
Feel free to pass on information about the site --- or the SMFSD --- to interested researchers.
Editor, The Middler
