Can't speak to these individual causes but according to Historical Time Line of Deady Diseases, Epidemics and Disasters in America 1516-1981, Appendix B, pp. 224, Guide to Cemetery Research by Sharon DeBartolo Carmack, there were epidemics of smallpox, scarlet fever and diphtheria in New England and Middle Colonies between 1735-1740.

Is the book available on line or only in print?
