Yes, town records at town level. But if you are researching records before circa. 1900 you will also find them at the Connecticut State Library in Hartford which is not too far from Ashford. Another library with a collection for your area of the State is the Center for Connecticut Studies located on the fourth floor of the library at ECSU in Willimantic, CT: http://www.easternct.edu/depts/ctstudies/index.html

You will note in the descriptions of their collections that they have many old newspapers and indexes to vital and cemetery records. The best parking at ECSU is in the summer and January. Call the library for hours at the Center as they are different the main library. The center also has modern microfilm scanners/readers/printers and a copy machine.
