Susan
Peck McAneeny and William Joseph McAneeny lived in
Chaplin, CT. The location is at the junction of North
Windham,
Chaplin and
Mansfield. Susan was born next door (in my house). She married McAneeny and they were extremely wealthy. He was the president of
Hudson Motor Car Co. (3rd biggest car company in
America in 1929) They also had a mansion on West
Palm Beach,
Florida. The
Chaplin house was a summer home. They had 2 servant cottages in the back yard, which is now connected into a single cottage. See connecticut historical society for a picture of the house from 1935. It's listed as an
Abbe home under
Chaplin, CT. I believe Susan and William McAneeny are both buried in the North
Windham Cemetary (across the Natchaug River, within 1/4 mile from here) This whole area was home to the
Abbe family (1700-1830) then the
Peck family (1830-1950ish). I'm not related, just studing the history of the area. -Allen
