Hi Sarah

Was wondering if you knew of any other Trolands who worshipped at First Kilraughts Church? I am trying to tie John Troland and Sarah Marshall (son William) into my family tree. Do you by chance have access to the church records?

Regards

I am sorry but I have no further knowledge of the Trolands.
I was in Ireland visiting family a year ago and spent some time in the Irish room. (now closed) where they had microfiche of church records . I was mainly looking for my Alexander and McClure ancestors at the time and had noted down william and Margarets marriage date as a McClure interest.

I am very excited to see this information. Mary Connell Troland was the sister of my great grandfather, John Daniel Connell. I have been researching the Connells for the past year. and have some information if anyone is interested. Daniel Toland and his siter Annie are mentioned in a diary I have.Does anyone have any pictures of Trolands or Connells they could share? Lynn Alms

Mary,

Unfortunately, I do not have pictures of the Connells. Nonetheless, it’s great that you were able to make a connection. Since posting this query, my aunt corrected me on the spelling of my paternal g-g grandmother's name. The correct spelling is "Annie" as mentioned in your g-grandfather's diary. I got "Anna" from a census. I'm interested in the diary entry. Could you please provide me with a copy or transcribed text? Thanks.

- Doug

Mr. Steward
Thank you for your inquery on the Troland posting. Sadly, my wife, Judy Diane Troland of Stratford, Connecticut, who made the 2000 posting, died last year about this time. She would have been thrilled with your e-mail and had a tremendous amount of material she could have sent you. At this moment, however, I cannot access that material. I will forward your e-mail to my wife's sister, Marylou who may be able to answer some of your requests. I have to say the name Steward was one I never heard Judy mention in the family tree that she had traced back to Scandanavia BYO Ireland.

Hi Lynn

Would like to know what information you have on Mary Connell Troland? I have the details of her children:
Daniel Henry (21 Oct 1887) and
Mary R (17 April 1889 died Arizona 19 Jan 1975).

But I have no dates for Mary or her parents. Can you provide any info?

Thanks

Ken

Are we talking about the same people? This is the info I have: Mary Connell, born in Norwich, CT 9/11/1865 to Patrick & Mary Burke Connell. I have no definite birth dates for Mary's parents, but think Patrick was born about 1842, and Mary anywhere from 1847-1852. Patrick was born in Cahirciveen, County Kerry and died 9/26/1881 in Norwich. Mary Burke Connell died in Chicago 3/28/1929. After Patrick died she married Henry McCracken in Norwich (3/1/1884) and they later moved to Chicago. The info I have for Mary Connell Troland is: Married Henry Troland 9/22/1887; Daniel Henry born 1887, an infant listed variously as both Henry and John born 6/28/1890 and died 7/30/1890; Annie, born in April of 1889. Mary Connell Troland died 7/19/1890. Henry had 2 children with his second wife: James, born in 1896; and Mary born 1898. The Mary R you mention looks like she is the same person as the Annie I have in my records. What do you think? Lynn

Anna "Annie" R. Troland was my g-grandmother, and I agree that this Mary R. is probably Annie based on the parents, birth/death dates and locations; however, I have her birth date as 18 Apr 1889 vice 17 Apr 1889. Annie married Roy J. Steward (my sirname) in Chicago on 11 Feb 1914. Roy died in Chicago on 23 Oct 1957.

Hi Lynn and Doug

Sorry for the typo, I meant to put Annie (Anna) R. Thanks to both of you for all the data. My estimate for Mary Burkes's dob is 1848 based on 1880 census data. I have a third child born to Henry and his second wife Kate McCann: Joseph dob 10 Sept 1901. Does anyone have any info on any of these Troland children? I have the data going backwards from Henry to Ireland if anyone is interested.
