Hello,

I'm looking for any information on a Thomas F Walsh living in Hartford, CT during 1924.
He was born 27 October 1875 in Springfield, MA to John J Walsh and Catharine T Mahar.
I have him in Springfield, MA in the 1900 Census but not showing up after that.
Then I have him listed in his father's obit as living in Hartford, CT.

Don't know if he was married, or single.

Would there be a city directory in 1924 for Hartford?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I'm not related, but found Thomas F. Walsh in the census and also the city directories, thru Ancestry.com

I was unable to find him in the 1900 Springfield Census, but I did find him in Hartford.

Basically in 1900, 1910, 1920 and 1930 he is listed in the Hartford, Ct Census with his wife Marie. In all these censuses he's a plumber, born in Mass., and his parents were born in Ireland. Marie was a few years older than Thomas and they never had any children. He gives his birthdate in the 1900 Census, as Oct. 1872, but in all other census he is age 34, 44, and 54. Also, the 1900 census says they've been married for 1 year.

Thomas Francis Walsh, born Oct 27, 1876. He's a stock clerk at Plimpton Hills Corp. on South Ann St., Hartford. He resides with his wife Marie on Mulberry St., Hartford.
(note that in the 1920 census Thomas is a stock clerk at a plumbing supply company).

The last time I was able to find Thomas, he was in the 1935 Hartford City Directory, with Marie. He was a stock clerk and living at 20 Albany Ave.
The next directory available is 1939, and they are not listed.

I found him in Springfield in the 1900 census. They had him listed as Thomas T Walsch living with his parents and sister. (John J and Cathrine with sister Helen) Did you say you saw him in the 1900 census in Hartford? could it be the same person or just someone with the exact name etc?

I'm not sure what happened. The Springfield census was taken June 16, 1900 and the Hartford was June 5th. I wonder if he married and didn't tell his family?? You'd have to get Thomas and Marie's marriage record to sort this out.
Here's the info from the 1900 Hartford, Ct. Census::

Thomas F. Walsh, boarder, born Oct 1872, married 1 yr, he's born in Mass, parents in Ireland, occupation-plumber. They are living on Lewis St.

Marie G. Walsh, boarder, born Oct 1870, born in Ct and her parents were born in Ireland.

I wonder if he "lied" about his age since he was younger then Marie?
