I've not been able to determine where in CT my William BEVANS was born nor who his parents were.

I do see a large number of BEVANS families in the Fairfield Co. area so I'm hoping to pick-up some clues from other BEVANS researchers who may be on this board.

I don't know if the BEVANS families followed any particular naming traditions but in the event they may have, this is a list of the names William & his 2 wives used for their children starting oldest to youngest; all children were born in Ramapo, Rockland Co, NY:

John b. 1843 d. 1843; Elizabeth b. 1844 d. 1924; Alice O. b. 1847 d. 1930; Caroline b. 1849 d. 1929; Franklin b. 1853 d. 1854; Charles Loraine b. 1854 d. 1920; William b. abt. 1859; John #2 b. abt. 1867; Jennie b. abt. 1869.

I don't know if William was married when he left CT or if he married once he arrived in Ramapo. His fisrt wife, mother of John #1 & Elizabeth, was named Lucinda b. Nov 1821 d. Feb 1845. Other than that info from her headstone, I know nothing about her so she could have come from CT with William or might have been from the Ramapo area.

Does anyone have a William BEVANS in their BEVANS tree b. abt. 1816 who is known to have left CT or drops from sight around 1841 or so?
