Looking for any information, particularly documentary, about my GGG grandfather, David Smith, born about 1754 to Azariah Smith and wife Mary Daggett or Doggett, probably in Salisbury. The family were possibly congregationalists. They later moved on to Northeast in Dutchess County in NY. David served in the Revolutionary War in Capt. Simeon Smith's company raised in Sharon, CT, was taken prisoner by the British and held on the hulks anchored in Brooklyn until released in the Spring of 1777, when he seems to have been taken to Fairfield by his father. He worked as a silver smith.I would be very grateful for any information or help.
