I have a handwritten letter written from Charles Middlebrook, 240 Bedford Ave., Brooklyn, NY to his brother, Samuel Middlebrook, Esq, North Wilton, Conn. It is dated Sept. 5, 1878:

Dear Brother,My wife's sister has been very sick. She had a son born Aug 23rd. She is better now. We will try and come up sometime this month. Still it is possible that we may not come this season as it is getting near to cool weather. I will write you when we decide. I have not heard from Palmyne??? (sp) of late. Nothing new. Lula is not very well. Love to all, Charles Middlebrook
