I did not find any Duquette's in
Colorado in 1900, at least none that matched this pair of brothers. In 1910 there is a William
Duquette, wife Helma, daughter Phenchion (age 6) living in
Pueblo Co. CO. Helma appears to be William's second wife. Helma was born in Sweden, Phenchion in
Colorado. William was 38, Helma 29, and they had been married 8 years. Lee Roy does not appear to be living anywhere in the area, unless he was written up as LeRoy and it didn't come up in the search returns. William was born in MI.
In 1920 this family is in
El Paso Co., Precinct 58. The daughter's name is now spelled "Fanchon," and another daughter, Bernice, age 8, has been added to the family.
In 1930 I can find Hilma living in San
Bernadino, CA with daughter Bernice, who has married a Roger C. Bale. Bernice is 19, was married at age 17, and has a 4 month old son named
Buford. Hilma is a widow.
Going to the USGenWeb page for
El Paso County, I find Duquette's buried in the Evergreen Cemetery:
John M., buried 2 March 1922
Lee Roy, buried 1 Jan 1915
William H., buried 17 Aug 1934
Was Hilma really a widow in 1930 and this was a mis-transcription, or was she really separated/divorced?
The URL for
El Paso Co. USGenWeb page is
http://hometownchronicles.com/co/elpaso/Their burial records are on findagrave.com as well. John
Duquette was born in 1841, according to their records. No birthdate for Lee Roy, and William was born in 1873 in
Michigan.
Hope this helps. I didn't look for John
Duquette, and as it's now midnight and past my bedtime, I will have to check for him tomorrow.
Also, locate the
El Paso County Message Board if you haven't already done so, and ask if there's anyone who can look up obituaries for you. Several years ago I did this for my own
Colorado Springs family and a kind lady found obituaries for me.
