Clarence R. Hansen, 319 11th St., a retired railroad workman, died Sunday at the
Bonnell Retirement Community. He was 77.
He was born at
Bennett, Neb., on July 28, 1893 and as a young boy moved with his parents to
Cushing, Neb., where he engaged in farming with his father. He entered the U. S. Army on Sept 21, 1917, and served with Co. D. 16th
Army Engineers in
Europe including the battle of Meuse-Argonne, and received his discharge at Camp
Dodge,
Iowa on May 6, 1919. The following Dec 24 he married Helen
Hansen at St. Paul, Neb., and farmed there until 1930 when he went to Julesburg and began work for the Union
Pacific Railroad, retireing in 1958. Hansen had lived in
Greeley since May, 1969.
He was a member of the Lutheran Church in
Cushing, Neb., the
Brotherhood of Maintenance Way Employees of the UPRR, and the Union
Pacific Old Timers Club.
Surviving, in addition to his wife, Mrs. Helen
Hansen, are two daughters and three sons, Ernest
Hansen of
Toole, Utah, Mrs. Marie
Busse of Julesburg, Charles
Hansen and Mrs. Elaine
Chacon, both of
Greeley, and S. F. C. Richard R. Hansen with the U. S. Army in Thailand.
Also surviving are a sister, Mrs. Hazel
Trimmer of
Lander, Wyo., 16 grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and also numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday in the
Adamson Memorial
Chapel, with military internment in
Linn Grove Cemetery by Pioneer Post 2121, Veterans of Foreign Wars.
