Al are you still working on the Lemuel Martin line? I guess Lemuel was born in Quebec but I don't have anything further back than that only the line from Lemuel through William Orison. Did William have brothers or sisters? If you have any info on this line I would appreciate it Thanks Dawn

Harry John Olson is my grandfather (my biological mother's father). Debbie Applegate is my biological mother. I was adopted by her mother's sister. I only found out about this a few years ago.

I came across this post a few months ago and have been trying to find more information on the family.

My name is Vinnie Vallejo. I was adopted by Kay (Bjermeland) Vallejo, sister of Patrica (Bjermeland) Applegate who is Debbie's mother. Would you or anyone else happen to have any more information on the Olson family, specifically Harry's dad and his dad's ancestors?

Thanks,

Vinnie

State Herald, Holyoke, Colorado, September 11, 1903

Frank Cheramy was born on February 26, 1885, and died at the hospital in Omaha on Monday, September 7, 1903. For a number of years he made his home with his parents in Phillips County. About six weeks before his death he went to Omaha to undergo a surgical operation for appendicitis. He seemed to get through the operation in a very satisfactory manner and up till a few days before his death was reported to his friends in this county as improving in his physical condition. A telegram was received Monday announcing his death. The funeral was conducted from his mother’s home in this county, Rev. Parker of Holyoke preaching the sermon, and the body was laid to rest in the country cemetery.* He was a young man who was highly esteemed by many friends. His death coming so sudden and so unexpectedly is quite a severe blow to the family.

*Posegate
Haxtun-Fleming Herald, Haxtun, Colorado, April 22, 2009

Clem “Mutt” Price, 90, was born November 6, 1918 at the Sunrise Ranch in Sedgwick and entered into rest on April 18, 2009 at the Sedgwick County Nursing Home.

Clem was born to Emray and Ione (Thurnes) Price and was the eldest of five children. The Prices have a tradition of nicknames. Clem got his nickname by learning to walk holding the hair of the family dog, Jeff. The cartoon “Mutt and Jeff” was a standard at that time so behold, the nickname Mutt. He rode his pony two miles to District 58 School and was bound and determined to get a high school education, so he rode his horse three and a quarter miles north to catch a model T school bus and ultimately graduated from Sedgwick High School. He was active in 4-H showing his steers at fairs and stock shows.

He married his high school sweetheart, Evelyn Toyne on April 13, 1940 and they were married for 55 years. They started farming and ranching and in 1948 they purchased their home and started their family. Clem survived many hardships in his life, including blizzards, droughts and dust storms, but none compared to the loss of his wife and two of his children.

Clem served on the Sedgwick School Board for eight years, he was a board member of the Sedgwick Cemetery Committee, county weed control, and sold Archer Petroleum for 51 years.

He was an avid goose hunter and enjoyed going hunting with his grandsons. He passed his love of cattle and 4-H to his daughters and his grandchildren. His great grandchildren still show at the County and State fairs.

All he ever wanted to do was to be a farmer and rancher. He always said that no job should be started on Friday that couldn’t be finished that same day. He loved the land, his cattle, his wife and his family.

Clem is survived by his daughter, Carolyn “Cookie” Dickinson and husband Danny, Crook; his sister Helen Obermeir, Julesburg; brothers Bob and wife Mildred Price, and Jerry and wife Lucy Price and sister-in-law Jean Toyne all of Sedgwick. His grandkids and their families, Kim Woltemath of Sidney, Nebraska; Lori, Jr. Mitch and Brady Sanchez; Danny, Nelda, Lance, Jaden and Halee Woltemath; Debbie, Gary, Jeremy and Jordin Nail all of Sedgwick; Jeff, Autumn, Holden and Peyton Woltemath of Greeley, and Cody and Ayden Woodhams, Ovid. His step-grandchildren, Ryan Dickinson and family, Lochbouie and Kendra Dickinson and daughters of Sidney, Nebraska.

He is preceded in death by his wife Evelyn; his daughter Mary and son Raymond; parents; brother Raymond Douglas Price; brother-in-law, Russ Obermeir, Frosty, Chuck and Lewellen Toyne; sisters-in-law, Stella Warner and Myrtle Dirks.

Funeral Services will be held Wednesday, April 22 at 10:30 a.m. at Austin-Tennant Funeral Home in Julesburg followed by a luncheon at the Lutheran Fellowship Hall in Julesburg. From there Clem will be laid to rest at the Haxtun Cemetery.

In Lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Sedgwick Fire Department, Ovid Fire Department, or Sedgwick County Nursing Home or any charity of choice. Austin-Tennant Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Minnie (FROELICH) MAERCKLEIN

August 29, 1912: Mrs. Mina Maercklein was called to rest yesterday morning, August 28, after an illness extending over two weeks. She was taken ill on the 11th, and acute pericarditis with effusion set in from the effect of which she died at the home of her son, Dr. Ivan R. Maercklein of this city. Mrs. Mina Maercklein was born in Plymouth, Wis., on May 4, 1853. She was married to Dr. W. J. Maercklein of Boltonville, Wis., in 1872, and with her husband took up residence in Milwaukee in 1881, where her husband died and where she made her home. She was the mother of eight children, one daughter, Miss Edna of Milwaukee, and seven sons, Drs. F.W. and I.R. of Oakes, Dr. A.G. of Ellendale and Drs. Ed, Edwin and William of Ashley, and Dr. William of Milwaukee. All the children, with the exception of Fred, were present at the bedside of their mother when the lamp of life was extinguished. Dr. Fred and his wife were rushing on their way from California, and arrived home yesterday afternoon. The deceased had come to north Dakota to visit her sons last May. She had visited her sons at Ashley and Ellendale and three weeks ago had returned to Oakes. During her illness she had the best of care from her sons, Dr. Ivan being assisted by Drs. Ed and Adolph. She was a good mother, unselfish to a fault, always ready to help those she loved. Cheerful by nature, her loss will be keenly felt by those she left behind. Short services were conducted by Rev. Martyr at the home of Dr. Ivan, after which the remains, in charge of her children, were shipped to Milwaukee, Wis., to be interred beside that of her husband, who preceded her eight years ago last April. The family has the sympathy of many loving friends in this county.
Oakes, ND newspaper August 29, 1912
