I do not have the Miles family back across the pond, only to 1757 in New York. I did drive over to Ridgeway once, though, to check out where S.C. Miles had his general store. That was one of my really nice genealogy trips. The people at the library were very nice. Are Irene and S.C. buried at Fairmount? Feel free to email at my home email address kalkowski@mindspring.com.

If you receive this message I would be grateful if you would contact me at akpinwheel@hotmail.com. I would love to find out anything you know about the Hillman family as my birth mother died last year and was my last link to this information. Thank you!

This is a repeat of a 1998 post by me, with an updated email address. The one on the old posting is no longer active. I will separately post an obituary for Andrew from probably a Union co, PA newspaper, undated.

Andrew HAFER of Union co, PA was married to Nancy BARNHART, b Union Co. They were married in Buffalo, NY according to Beers 1898 Commemorative Biographical Review of Central PA. I am interested in details of this HAFER family including birth/death records of Andrew. The family lived in Ouray Co. in 1898 and later. Andrew was an older brother of one of my ancestors, Harrison HAFER (b1841) and a son of Jacob and Rebecca (Gilbert) HAFER. Any information greatly appreciated, please contact Estella Johnson
======
I think you should start a new thread if you want to continue this discussion and since you are bringing in new and unrelated names.
If this is of any help, these are the only names in Cedar Hill Cemetery (Ouray) that match the five surnames you listed.
Rogers, C.F.
Rogers, Clifford T.
Rogers, Isabel Dumont
Lane, Amos
Ridgway (look on a map) also has a cemetery, but I do not have a list of the interred for that cemetery. If you like I can go to their library and check these names, but it may be a week or so before I do that.

I'm of no help with these five surnames. However, I've been looking for five persons who disappeared after the 1880 census showed them in Ophir, Ooray County, Colorado. They were miners Isaac R Rogers, Thomas Culbert, George Perkins, Wilson Lane and A.M. Phelps. Mysteriously, none of them appeared in later census documents. Culbert & Phelps may have died of old age before the 1900 census. The others were 24, 31 and 38, respectively in 1880. I have found no record whatsoever of any of them after 1880. I would certainly appreciate any direction I can get.

Joe Sonza and Mary T Faletti daughter (my G Grandmother) Adalena Lorraine (Lena) married Enrico Fortunado Ziller (arrived from Austria in 1893). They had 3 children Cathrine, William and Eva.
Eva married Albert D Fredericks had Julius, William, Albert and Lorraine. Alberts father was a Bernardo we believe. Alberts mother Big Billie from Telluride, Co met Fred Fredericks on the trial to Colorado from Texas and Fred adopted the children Albert D & Edna Fredericks. Not sure what happened to Billies first husband (Bernardo)
Any information you may have on any of the fore mentioned people would be GREATLY appreciated.

Go to Google Books. Search for Red Mountain Town. Find "History of the State of Colorado", then on page 254 and 255 it is listed that Wm. Quigley was on of the Trustees of the town of Red Mountain in 1891.

Thank you Frank!
Do you happen to know if the films can be interlibrary loaned between states? There are many here in Michigan that can be, wondered if those could be - do you have any insight? Do you know if these are on LDS film? We have an LDS family history center about an hour away. Also, is there a genealogy society or group that can do research for others? I have no problem paying for the services... never ask or assume for a freebie....
I appreciate your reply and insight.
Sincerely -
Meg in Mich

Colona Cemetery is now "home" to 8 of the Carnal Family members.

I am hoping that someone can direct me to where I would find the records / obits on the following: Anna, Claude, John, Manuel, Marylin, Missouri, Sarah and William.

Also, if anyone is familiar with the area, maybe you have heard of or know of some of this family. I look forward to hearing from anyone with any information!

I'm in Michigan.. will be more than happy to help with any research here if needed! Thanks so much in advance for your help and time...
Meg in Mich

BEALE. BOWERSOCK. Ouray, Delores, Teller, El Paso. Fremont Counties

Seeking information about REBECCA BOWERSOCK & JOHN T BEALE

The Bowersocks, emigrated from Jackson Township, Venango County PA to Colorado between 1880-1885.

Parents: James S Bowersock (AKA Foster Bowersock) b abt 1830 and Mary A Bowersock b. abt 1834

Mary A Bowersock 1835-1914 is buried in the Chico Basin Cemetery, Hanover, El Paso County.

I cannot find James after 1880 Census in PA. In Colo - just wife & Bowersock children listed here:

1. Rebecca b. 1860 PA, married James Beale 1889, Delores County.
They had one daughter Bessie M. Don't know if she was born in Delores or Teller County?
In the 1900 Census, Bessie is listed as "niece" living w/ Elizabeth & Eliaj (or Eleazer) Thomas, Wilbur Pct., Freemont County & their 2 sons Joseph & Harry Thomas.
Also in 1900 Rebecca Bowersock Beale's husband is listed as widower in Victor Town, Teller County.
There are some discrepancies in Bessie Beale's birth date. I believe she changed her birthdate from Jan 1891 to 1889 in order to get married. In other words, Bessie was married at 16. Bessie & William Shea were married in Morgan County in 1907. They moved to Adams County (2 homestead apps, 1913 and 1935) went to Iowa for 3 years and returned to Colorado, settleing in Douglas County, where most of the Sheas live now.
2. John b 1861 PA
3. Lyman b. 1863 PA, d 1938
buried next to mother at Chico Basin Cemetery, Hanover (Colo Spr) El Paso County
listed as Single in 1910 census, 5th wd Colo Spr
4. William b 1865 PA d 1917
buried next to mother & brother Lyman at Chico Basin
5. Emma b 1867 PA married Charles S Kelly 1895, Delores County
6.Ellen b 1869 PA
7.Catherine b 1872 in Victor as servant in 1900 Census - married someone last name Holman, I believe they lived in either Pueblo or El Paso County
8.Eva M b 1875 PA
9.Margaret b 1878 PA living w/ brother Lyman in both the 1910 & 1920 Cenus. She died in 1932 and is buried in the Evergreen Cemetery in Colorado Springs

Although the mother Mary A Bowersock lived to be quite old, abt 80 yrs old in 1914, her daughter Rebecca Bowersock Beale died soon after giving birth to her daughter Bessie M Beale Shea in 1889.

Regarding: JOHN T BEALE, Rebecca's husband & Bessie's father
1.1880 US Cenus - in Rico, Ouray County CO
2. 1883 Delores News(paper) Rico, Ouray County, CO pg 2 John T Beale mentioned in story about putting timber on the tunnel on the property he owns w/ Hugh Ray & Geo Rule
3. 1884 Delores News John T Beale as Senior Warden in I.O.O.F.

My Great Grandfather William Quigley moved his family to Red Mountain from Pilot Knob, Missouri about 1888. I was told he worked in the mines at Red Mountain. Two of his children, William, b. March 1883 and Menetta (Nettie)b. June 1885, might have been enrolled in school in Red Mountain, before they left for the Cripple Creek area.

I was told that my Great Grandfather William Quigley died about 1893. Possibly in the Cripple Creek, Colorado area. I have only found the family in an 1880 census for Pilot Knob, Missouri. I am trying to trace them through Colorado. I have some records for Altman, Colorado but nothing for Red Mountain.

Any help would be appreciated.
Eellitta

Thanks to you, PaigeFrank. I have found evidence of probate record, but the reference was not complete. Now I I've got it! Great!

Annie O'Connell

Annie
I am in Ouray and can only access Denver records over the internet, as you can. It appears paigefrank77 has done that and has a lead for you. If you get any specific dates for their presence in Ouray, I will see what I can find in local newspapers.
Hope your transplant went well.

It's pretty simple.
Ellen/Nellie O'Connell's probate record, # 355093 - Arapahoe County,1945, is in the Colorado State Archives.
Good Hunting,
Frank

Hi John:

Don't know if you are stil around, but I took time off for an organ transplant. Luckily I found some Ouray info, but am out of luck on the rest. If you could look for dates of death for a James P. O'Connell and an Ellen/Nellie Kirby O'Connell in the Denver area that would be great! They moved from Ironton to Denver to Nevada to Denver. James drops from the record around 1919 and Nellie after 1942. Many thanks.

Annie O'Connell please email me at home.
ainnieo@gmail.com
I do not have much information on the businesses you listed. But, what I saw Ed was a saloon owner first and then a mine owner. His death, 19 Sept. 1905 in Salida was the result of an operation a week earlier.
Good Hunting,
Frank

Edward Omland lived in Ouray for many years, died in 1905. His probate record indicates he was part owner of the following businesses. Is there any way to get more information on the business mentioned in the record

Ouray Gun Club Property
Brooklyn Group of Mines
CandleLight Group of Mines
Black Hose Group of Mines
Omland, Marnon & Co. - Ouray, CO
