I recently acquired a photograph that appears to say the name "
Carpenter" (the corner is torn, so this is my best guess) and it also reads "
La Junta,
Colorado."
It shows what appears to be a mother and father and six boys and one girl that appears to be their children in a lavish home setting or it's painted scenery.
The earliest that photograph could have been taken would have been 1875 (when
La Junta was founded) and I'm guessing that the latest the photograph would have been taken was in the early 1900s (since color photography became more commonplace and this photograph is exclusively in sepia and white tones. Based on the fashion, I am going to guess that the date is the early to mid-1890's or later, but definitely not past the 1920's.
Perhaps the daughter in the photograph is Leora
Carpenter Biggs? What age was she when she passed away in 1892?
